- Reviewed in Canada on May 24, 2025Verified PurchaseGiving it 5 stars as I wasn't able to find any flaws yet and I was able to get good readings every time. Love the fact that it is quick, has a good screen that you can twist to an angle for better view, direct conversion between celsius and fahrenheit.
Compared to a simple one found at my local hardware store, this was reading "on the spot"(the other either was broken or it was plain dumb). Compared with the one from my neighbour - got similar readings.
I didn't have time to perform a manual test with tubes and whatnot, for pH.
- Reviewed in Canada on April 28, 2025Verified PurchaseJust received it so it looks good .Will it perform? time will tell.
Only one problem for me at my age is the screen dose not light up
and in the sun i can not see the numbers.
- Reviewed in Canada on May 7, 2025Verified PurchaseHaven't had it long but have used it on 4 gardens and seems to work very well. One area we had watered the day before and so it showed moisture level difference when we tested unwatered to watered side. It does take time for the temp to stop fluctuating but that is to be expected. The PH level it showed was consistant to other PH test I did. I had previously only tested 1 garden for nutrient level but it did seem to be close with that as well. Overall I am very pleased and would recommend it.

- Reviewed in Canada on March 19, 2025This is a reasonably decent soil meter/tester that seems well-constructed and for the most part works just fine without issues; however, it does have questionable accuracy based on what I'm able to ascertain so far. It has a fairly large 2" backlit screen that's bright and easy to see (well, at the right angles); however, it has rather limited viewing angles and it's a lot easier and clearer to look downwards as opposed to upwards, which is a bit of a bummer.
The physical build quality is decent albeit typical of most others with similar style and design that I've come across and reviewed. It has a typical shell that most others have and although it doesn't necessarily feel cheap or even flimsy, it doesn't feel like a million bucks either. It does have a tiltable display which I do appreciate; however, it's limited to 2 adjustable angles only (i.e. locked into place with a clip) at roughly 15° and 45° angles which isn't exactly a great design in my mind.
It would've been a lot more helpful if it's tiltable at 90° (that a few others that I have/had can) with a variable/stepless angle design (i.e. use tension to hold the screen in place) since the display isn't at all heavy and doesn't require a lot of force to keep the screen at any arbitrary angle. Btw, it uses 4x AAA batteries (none included).
It only has 2 buttons; one for switching between normal and pH/moisture modes and the other one is for selecting the temp unit (°C/°F); nothing fancy here. While the temperature, moisture level, and pH level seems to be reasonably accurate, the same can't be said about the lux or the nutrient levels unfortunately. The light meter is off by at least 250 lx when the ambient light level is around 1000 lx and it does NOT register anything below roughly 700-720 lx. The offset isn't linear and at 1250 lx, it registers 1000 lx as opposed to 550 lx or so (i.e. minus 700 lx). As such, it's really default to gauge its accuracy or precision and if light level is a concern for you, this is perhaps not what you need because it's simply way off.
As for measuring soil fertility and its nutrient level, it's also difficult to determine its accuracy since it's unknown to me exactly what it measures and none of the required information is mentioned in the manual or anywhere else that I can see. For reference, there are multiple approaches to determine the quality of the soil and one of them is measuring the amount of negation ions such as Calcium, Magnesium, and Potassium. Another common way is to determine the amount of Phosphorous, Potassium, and Magnesium. Keep in mind that it's not just about the amount but also the ratio amongst those nutrients and since this particular meter doesn't state what it measures, it's difficult to even begin to guess whether it's accurate or not.

All things considered, this is a reasonably decent soil meter/tester that seems well-constructed and for het most part works just fine. It has a decent backlit screen that's relatively to see for the most part and it's easy to use; however, its overall accuracy does leave something to be desired and it really depends on what you need or hoping to get out of this. It's reasonably priced at $28 for what it provides and its overall build quality, usability, versatility, accuracy, and performance. Your mileage might vary.
