    I was pleasantly surprised by its lightweight when it arrived. It's quick and easy to extend/retract with smooth motion.

    The latches open with an easy tug, and close snug.
    The latches are plastic, and the telescopic segments are hollow aluminum, with a foam sheath for the handle that's fitted firmly.

    With it extended and the latches closed/tightened, the poll can still be pushed to collapse with about 30-40lbs of force (I didn't measure, just guessing by feel), which is still fine if you want to roll paint on a wall; less-so if you're Sir William "Ulrich von Liechtenstein" Thatcher from Gelderland in need of a lance.

    I'm just glad I don't have to kick around milk crate, or dance with a step ladder anymore.
