2

VM95 Series Elliptical Nude Stereo Cartridge

The AT-VM95EN, features a Nude Elliptical Diamond. The construction of the stylus being a one piece diamond with a round shank inserted in the cantilever creates a lighter and more rigid transmission system than a diamond tip bonded on a round titanium shank such as in the AT-VM95E. Also the use of nude diamond implies a substantial difference in pricing, yet the quality of the reproduction will be immediately noticed, specifically in the fidelity of high frequencies and in the quality of the transient responses.

4

Elliptical Nude Stylus

Elliptical diamond stylus follows the groove modulation with greater precision compared to a conical stylus, offering improved frequency and phase responses whilst reducing distortion.

1

No Use of Nuts

VM95 Series cartridges features two M2.6 threaded inserts allowing the installation of the cartridge onto tonearm or removable headshell without the use of nuts. Each cartridge is provided with one pair of 8mm M2.6 screws, one pair of 11mm M2.6 screws and two plastic washers.

1

VM95 Series - Styli Compatibility

Every cartridge diamond stylus becomes worn after a period of play. Around 500 hours for a conical stylus, 300 hours for an Elliptical stylus, 1000 hours for a Microlinear stylus, and 800 hours for a Shibata stylus.

Our VM95 Series dual moving magnet cartridges can be used almost forever by replacing the interchangeable stylus. It is no longer necessary to purchase a complete cartridge when your diamond is worn out, you can simply buy the matching replacement stylus, but also enjoy the experience of upgrading your cartridge with a different stylus.

The six models of VM95 Series cartridges all use the same electromagnetic engine-body, therefore each of the six replacement styli are perfectly compatible.

1

AT-VM9E Series Compatibility with the AT-XP Series DJ Cartridges

  • The electromagnetic engine-body of XP-Series, is fully compatible with all replacement styli of VM95 Series and will deliver more output voltage than VM95 Series cartridge. So providing improved compatibility with phono inputs of Professional DJ Mixers.
  • VM95 Series electromagnetic engine-body is also compatible with the three replacement styli of the DJ cartridge AT-XP Series, nevertheless, the electromagnetic engine-body of XP-Series, will deliver more output voltage than VM95 Series cartridge in order to provide better compatibility with phono inputs of Professional DJ Mixers.
  • Note that typical tracking force when using XP Series styli is three grams as opposed to two grams for VM95 Series styli.
  • The suspension design and compliance of XP-Series styli have been optimized for intensive DJing, including possible manual cueing and back-cueing.
  • The VM95 Series suspension design and compliances of VM95 Series have been designed for optimum audiophile reproduction.

Nice and clear.

Nice and clear.
Well balanced. It reminds me of the vintage shibata stylii from the 70's. A bit "poppy" on older presses but if your albums are clean its crystal clear to the ears.

This review is for Audio-Technica AT-VM95EN Dual Moving Magnet Turntable Cartridge - Orange.

Upgrade from the stock Audio-Technica AT-VM95C Dual Moving Magnet Turntable Cartridge - Blue that came with my AT-LP3XBT-WH.

    I mounted this AT-VM95EN on an Audio-Technica AT-HS3 Angled Headshell - Red.

I love it! I think it sounds great.

I had originally bought a Ortofon 2M Red to upgrade from the crappy "Bum M1" cartridge that the previous owner had on my Akai AP-100C, but I had a faulty unit from Ortofon so I opted to switch brands completely to AT and I'm very pleased that I did that.

*Keep in mind my tests was done on a brand new cartridge and it has yet to break in*

To test this unit I had it on my previously mentioned Akai turntable listening to a brand new copy of Avicii - True run into a Fosi Audio Box X4 tube pre-amp. From there into a Technics SH-8040 which was OFF for these tests, and then into a JVC JR-S301 using my Hifiman Edition XS cans in the headphone out of the JVC Receiver.
Treble frequencies were very tolerable at normal levels and even found myself turning them up abit on my pre-amp to about 60-70%. No sibilance to speak of except on the very high end of my hearing where it sounded a little jumbled and soft. The last song on side A is "Dear Boy" which has ALOT of high frequencies at the beginning of the song and this unit handled them extremely well. I cannot speak on frequencies above 15K as even at only 25 years of age my hearing has aged 20 years ahead of me. :(

Mid-range and vocals sounded fantastic with presence and clarity with no muddiness.

Low frequencies sounded very good with a pleasant warmth but seemed like the sub-bass was rolling off abit early.

Time will tell what breaking this stylus in will do the improve the sound but I have no doubt the sound will only get better from here.

I would recommend this product to anyone looking to level-up their vinyl experience and not break the bank with these insane prices on some cartridges and styli.

I am so happy I made the upgrade to this cartridge. I wasn't sure if the bad sound I had been getting from my vinyl records was just because of the turntable I was using (The AT-LP3) or if it was the cartridge that I suspected was damaged... I decided to see if upgrading the cartridge would get me by before buying a whole new turntable at a higher price bracket ($700-800). This cartridge was everything I could have wanted. It sounds amazing. The installation required a cartridge alignment protractor and some patience (watching youtube tutorials and being very careful not to touch the stylus). Overall, very happy with my purchase and 鶹 got it to me in 24 hours.

I have an SL-D2 vintage turntable. I've historically been using the green elliptical needles which are cheaper than this model which is midrange compared to the Cadillac Shibara series.

I noticed an immediate jump in fidelity, quality and clarity. Every single pop and crackle are conveyed in excellent detail to a sufficient sound system. Pairing with high fidelity outputs is a must to get the value out of this needle cartridge.

They last longer than the other ones but are about double the price. I say for something in between the low and high end, this needle fits my use case perfectly and it's an excellent value for a simple upgrade to your vintage system.

Great cartridge for the price. Detailed, neutral. Complete black background, clean sounding. No sibilances, and still detailed. Bass is there, tidy bass, not a DJ cartridge though, no messy big bass. Sound also not the most opened ever, not the most holographic ever. But then again, this is a 100 MM cartridge. It beats ortofon read, but if you want magic, we gotta spend 200-300, for a MC, with a proper phono preamp... This one is the best for the price I guess. If you have a great setup, go for ML or shibata better, or for a denon 103. But for an affordable great cardtridge, for not the best records, used records, this is more than good.

Sound really good. I tried it with a brand new Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon 50th Anniversary edition. I owned the blue and the green version of this cartridge. This one sounds better, I was able to test all three on the same excellent quality vinyl and I can hear this orange sound better. It will be my standard. It is a bit more money, but I think it's worth it.
