5.0 out of 5 stars Great Test Kit For "Technical" Pool and Spa Owners
Verified PurchaseI had been using test strips to check the chemistry of my pool but I never fully trusted them. Years ago I had used a similar kit with an above ground pool, so I thought I would give this one a try. The kit includes a manual that explains some of the chemistry behind each test if you forgot what you learned in high school and it has tables that help gauge how much of a particular chemical you need to add. The manual alone is worth half the price of the kit in my opinion. It is very clear and concise. Overall I find the kit to be accurate. I have been able to keep my water balanced and crystal clear.
For those choosing to purchase this kit I would recommend getting two wash bottles such as these: ACM Economy Wash Bottle, LDPE, Squeeze Bottle Medical Label Tattoo I use bottles of different sizes (8oz and 16oz) so I can easily see the difference between the test sample and the wash bottle. Fill the small bottle with water from the pool and fill the larger one with distilled water to wash out the test tubes between tests. Tap water and bottled water can contain chlorine or minerals that skew test results. This is especially true of municipal water systems or well water.

5.0 out of 5 stars Matches pool store results!
Verified PurchaseThis is an amazing product. We had inconsistent readings from the pool store water test that used electronic equipment to determine chemistry. Depending on which location we went to the results varied even in the same day , within the same hour using the same bottle of water.
Switched to a different pool store that uses chemical test and this kit allows for the same physical/visual confirmation of pool chemistry. Beyond the normal dpd test I was able to check CYA and Alkalinity with a high degree of accuracy when compared to the pool store test.
I have been having trouble maintaining PH and this kit helps me see the full spectrum of all chemistry instead of just chlorine and pH.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great kit
Verified PurchaseGreat way to keep on top of pool water chemistry. It can seem overwhelming at 1st but the directions help with ease of use. Also comes with a reference book that tells you how to make adjustments if needed. Highly recommend!

4.0 out of 5 stars ACCURATE TEST KIT
Verified PurchaseRecently bought a home with a small pool and had never maintained one before. It is a steep learning curve when you find out some of the pool equipment is not working! Was going weekly to a store to have the water sample tested and wanted to cut down on the trips. The pool company that replaced my equipment recommended this kit and it works great, even for novices. Tests everything that the store does. Labels and instructions are clear; instructions are printed on the inside lid of the kit. Simple test procedures. Tables for determining amounts of chemicals to add based on test results are in the booklet, which thankfully is printed on water resistant paper.
Some tests I recommend *not* doing every week with this kit--like stabilizer and calcium. They require too much reagent (can only be tested 2 times with what's in the kit, because you have to use half a bottle of the reagent). But I usually test only ph and chlorine, and let the store use it's reagent to test the others. The local pool store sells replacement reagents for this kit; they run $7-8/bottle. Hoping mine last awhile or I can find a less expensive place to buy them.
Overall a good kit and much better than strips.
