5.0 out of 5 stars Reiseführer Tansania
Absolut empfehlenswert!

3.0 out of 5 stars New look but lacking compared to older versions
Verified PurchaseThe new look LP guides are very colourful but lack the detailed information, and more importantly the opinion, that can be found in older guides. Very bland and not really enough information. For example pls Ed to stay relegated to small snipets. Better to just look on line at tripadvisor or use older versions!

1.0 out of 5 stars This Is No Longer Lonely Planet But A Completely Dumbed Down, Worthless, Dull, Travel Brochure.
Verified PurchaseWorthless. I've used Lonely Planet guide books for years but after trying to read this new version, I won't be buying them anymore. Total fluff, plus annoying boxes of "information", including from "the locals" with their head shots just like Instagram along the side margins, boxes of worthless tidbits on where to stay and where to eat with little supporting information. Cannot believe the boxes of "Pro Tips" with inane bits just taking up space. Pictures everywhere, just like a travel brochure where instead of useable information, valuable space is taken with these ridiculous super colorful pictures that make everything look like Disney adventures. This book reads like a superficial travel brochure with little to no usable information. I have always read LP front to back, highlighting all the wonderful places these writers were so passionate about, and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, LP, how to get there and way. I usually have several highlights a page and notes in the margins. I'm halfway through this book with a total of two highlights, no notes. The maps are totally worthless and unreadable due to poor color differentiation. I don't want to continue reading it, and I am confused as to what I want to see now. Mainly, I do not feel confident in making any travel decisions based on this book. This book is so dull, with no personal opinions, no passion, no intelligent writing, no grit, and ZERO information on getting there and away, which LP used to be the absolute best with that information. Completely dumbed down. I can't even tell who the audience is because it's definitely not the travelers who want to have a working knowledge on where to go and how to take care of themselves, i.e., how to get there and on to the next wonderful place, where to eat and stay, how to dig around and get to know a place, how to book/find reliable tours/local providers of useful information and services, how to avoid dangers, scams and pitfalls. It appears the writers haven't visited these places but instead cobbled together whatever they could find on Instagram. This is really poor quality, low level informational writing of what was once the best, the Lonely Planet guides which gave travelers the confidence they needed to explore and feel safe in where they stayed, how they traveled and the comfort in knowing LP had their backs with the personal care and commitment LP put into its guides. No longer.
