My first ever model from Tamiya, pretty simple!
The IS-2's details were very adequate and it is very big. Being my first Tamiya model, it was pretty messy with all the glue but pro modellers should have no trouble and have a very clean tank. Turret spins with ease. Wheels do not move as I super-glued them, but if you didn't glue them they would move but be pretty loose and wouldn't move while the track is on. My main gripe about it (probably just a me issue) was that it was kind of hard to put in all the small details. the handles are tiny and easy to break and I lost the original machine gun piece on the back (replaced with an extra piece of plastic). The pieces right in front of the sprocket are hard to put on so I ditched them. Tracks are hard to assemble (not movable, plastic not rubber, multiple pieces) and the tip of the right track would NOT stay glued. However, all of these are issues with myself and skill so again, experienced modellers should have no issues. Overall, this build is very nice and detailed, great kit to start on with Tamiya models. I know my photos look messy but I'm planning to spray paint it and then bring out the details with acrylics.
