2024 was not a good year for those close to me. My best friend fell in her backyard and broke her ankle in three places. Surgery was required with pins and plates being put in her ankle. She was in the hospital and then a rehab facility for nearly 2-1/2 months. When she was released, I went to live with her to help her out. Shortly before her release, I saw this toilet safety rail and thought it would prove very helpful. It did! Her main bathroom was renovated a couple of years ago so there is a toilet that is higher but the toilet in the powder room on the main floor is older and lower so it was hard for her to rise up off of it without putting excess pressure on her ankle. This toilet safety rail/riser with handles proved invaluable. It really made her feel secure and helped her a lot. It is now late January and she has been home for two months now and she is still using the safety rail. The rail was super easy to put together with no tools required. It fits behind the toilet seat and can be removed in seconds. The rail is adjustable in height (from 25” to 35” and width (21” to 26”) so it can be used with most toilets. The two front legs have rubber feet but the two back legs have oversized suction cups which really adhere strongly to the floor to prevent movement. The part of the rails where you hold on are padded and comfortable. There is a mesh magazine holder which attaches with Velcro to the side rail but we opted not to use it. Best of all, this Takuyada toilet safety rail is STRONG. It can support up to 400 pounds. I hope my friend will eventually be steadier and have confidence in her new “bionic” ankle but until such time, I am so glad that she is able to use this toilet rail and feel safe during her basic toileting needs. Priced at $66.99 in January 2025 (up from $55.99 in the fall of 2024), this toilet assist rail gives you security and peace of mind and you can’t put a price on that.

    If you’re having difficulty with raising and lowering yourself to the toilet for whatever reason or your post surgery, this is a great device to put in your bathroom. Really no need for the pocket because he wants to hang out there that long anyway if you’re having difficulty getting up and down could be a little bit sturdier so you need to make sure that you have equal strength bilaterally to be able to support yourself with both sides to get down because the suction cups don’t really work. Ideally, it would be better to have more concave suction cups both in the front and the back legs so that it adhered better to the surface, but it does the job and it’s nice that it folds up and you can put it away when not you needing to use it.

    This does the job but it's definitely not sturdy. It fits fine, but the suction cups don't really work. Even if they were to, the issue is that the handles bars actually move when you place weight on it. So if you can't evenly place force onto both sides, then one side will shake. But still, this worked fine after back surgery, so for temporary use while you recover, this is a good option. For long term use, I think it's better to invest in something more sturdy.
