TRC 14650 006-6 Shockshield Portable GFCI Single Outlet Adapter with Surge Protection, 15-Amp, White. White GFCI single outlet adapter. Provides GFCI and surge protection for appliances used indoors, portable size measures less than 3" H x 2" W. Turns any outlet into GFCI receptacle, trip level: 4-6 mA. Trip response time for ground fault less than 25mS and grounded neutral trip, MOV rated at 314 joules. 120V/15A portable GFCI works with Power Tools, Saws, Drills, Extension Cords, and Lighting applications. The primary cause of shock and electrocution in the home is an electrical condition known as Ground Fault. The problem is so extensive that the National Electrical Code mandates the use of Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters for all bathroom, kitchen, basement and garage outlets in all new homes in the US. Even so, over 170 million Americans live in homes built before this mandate was put in effect, and are hence vulnerable to shock or electrocution from ground faults. The Portable GFCI Tri-Cord has built-in electronic circuitry which monitors electrical current and shuts off power in just 25/1000?s of a second if a ground fault is present. Indoors, it is perfect for use in the basement, garage or workshop. TOLL FREE HOTLINE, 1-800-561-4321. - Reviewed in Canada on March 22, 2025Verified PurchaseVery good idea!! As a licensed electrician I can confirm that this little gadget works as good as a hard wired GFCI receptacle, so if are not confident to wire one in or there is not enough space in the box to put in the regular fat GFCI, pick up this one and you're protected! And what even better is that if you plug it into the lower socket of the duplex, you're still able to use the upper socket as a regular one.

- Reviewed in Canada on July 31, 2016Verified PurchaseThis GFCI plug adapter would be great for most things. It's design allows the user to still utilize the other wall outlet. It does feel a little cheap
as it's made from plastic, but seems pretty solid nevertheless. It would be great for small spaces as it does not come below the bottom outlet too far.
However, it does stick out from the wall, so if one has limited space in front of the outlet, perhaps one of the extension cord kind would be better in
that situation.
I purchased this device to attach to my Aeroponic TowerGarden, and it worked great for the pump and timers, but as soon as I plugged in the grow lights
it blew the GFCI breaker. and it would not remain on what so ever. I also purchased another GFCI extension cord at the same time, and tried that one as
well in this setup, and it also blew when I plugged in my grow lights. Thank goodness I had one more in the house for my Toto Washlet, and tried that one.
That one worked. So my advice to anyone, be sure you get the right amperage/voltage for all items that are going to be plugged into it. That way it will
function properly. I thought I had figured all that out before I purchased this, but I hadn't. Oh well, I can use it elsewhere. GCFI's are extremely handy
if you don't have an up-to-code home like mine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good item to turn your outlet into a GFI.
Verified PurchaseWorks as stated. Good quality and a great choice for a GFI plug without having to replace the receptacle, or search for the first receptacle on the string and replace it.

4.0 out of 5 stars It works almost too good.
Verified PurchaseI use this for added security on my hot tub. It works as designed and it is serving my purpose well. About the only bad thing I can say is that it likely works too well. If the power blinks or if you have an outage you can bet you will have to go reset the plug because it will probably be tripped and you know nothing about it until you get in your hot tub and find out that it's not as hot as you were planning. Does that sound like the voice of experience talking???
