Speeds were pretty bad. I ended up splitting them apart and daisy chaining them in opposite ends of the house and they, connection wise, are worked great. Another point of mention is I purchased a hub to extend to extend the ports available (/gp/product/B00A128S24/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) this one.

The good:

-Signal is amazing everywhere in the house
-App setup was super easy
-App features were great (easy share network info, admin features, personal profiles, parental locks, etc)
-Price (I paid 120 for a set of 2) was much more reasonable than most sets I see reaching over 300 dollars.

Cons:

- Anytime you rewire anything involving the mesh network, you have to reset the devices and set everything up again.
- Not using hard wired options for the mesh network makes speed suffer greatly. Would not recommend if you are trying to avoid wiring things to TV's, and gaming systems. Performance drops each node you have to connect through wirelessly.
- Running them through auto-negotiated ports seems to lock them at 10 MB/s, not super debilitating, since it's for mobile stuff, but just something that I found out with my setup.

You would expect the much newer M5 and M9 Plus to have better signal which they DO NOT! M4 had strong signal every spot M9 had "medium" signal strength.

If you have the M4 don't bother upgrading.

Got a couple of these M4 decos to add on to my existing mesh network consisting of xe75 and x50/60. Tp-link mesh nodes work really well together even across product lines. I had no trouble adding this to my existing mesh node. It required a firmware update immediately which went really smooth.

I added this to cover a bit of a hole in my wifi coverage in specific spots of the house. Worked great for me . This isn't the latest wifi implementation but it worked well enough.

For 109$ for two nodes this is a really low cost way to expand mesh node for coverage holes in your deco network. It helps that the deco app really integrates all the mesh nodes nicely and allows you to control all of them and direct which node should mesh relay with which other node specifically.

The bad:
- the terms of service
- forced connection to "the cloud"
- support

The TOS permits them to share your info/data/etc with anyone they want, worldwide, including China. The forced cloud connection makes it impossible to stop them.
One of mine had a hardware failure in the first 6 weeks, it was quickly diagnosed and handed to the RMA department for an exchange.... Then, waiting. And more waiting. 4 weeks after the RMA handoff, and after I prodded them several times, they finally provided the RMA instructions and refused to cover return shipping.

These are inexpensive because you are the product.

Back to the good - solid speeds, easy setup, automatic cabled or wireless backhaul between units, cheap.

The app allows you to manage your network from anywhere in the world. You can see your devices, MAC addresses, APs, throughput... and so can TP Link, and their data broker clients...
