- Reviewed in Canada on March 29, 2025Verified PurchaseI bought this for our RV to use to grind beans for our new OutIn Portable Espresso maker. I was a bit put off by reviews that indicated it did not produce a consistent and find grind for espresso. While it’s not perfect in that regard it’s very good. It appears robust and very well made. It feels good in your hands as you grind. Be warned that grinding that fine requires about 90 turns of the hand but after doing it a number of times it actually adds to the ritual of making my wee cup of espresso in a very positive way!
- Reviewed in Canada on February 21, 2025Verified PurchaseA well designed machine. I had an electric grinder, it just thrashed the beans and did not produce a consistent size unless all the coffee was ground into a powder. This one lets the coffee through to your setting everytime. I use a heaping full 15 ml scoop, app 6.5 grams of bean. Left at the factory setting, along with 600mls water it makes a medium strong 570 ml cup. (15ml=1 tbs / 6.5 grams=0.22 ounce / 570ml=16 ounce). App 30mls water is left with the grounds. One caveat is that the metal is somewhat brittle, be careful to align perfectly when attaching the base to the upper body. If you damage the threads it won't be repairable.
- Reviewed in Canada on April 12, 2025Verified PurchaseBeen using this almost every day, sometimes multiple times a day, for 9 months. Absolute beast. I’ve taken it apart, dropped it, bullet proof. Fabulous product that can be set to coffee making needs. I use it mostly for espresso.
- Reviewed in Canada on August 13, 2024Verified PurchaseThis is possibly the best hand grinder to get. The exterior surface is textured which offers a better grip when grinding. The build quality is not cheap and fully mettalic. The grinder comes with a pouch, cleaning brush, and the detachable top. I use the bottom collector scoop the coffee and it almost fills the top. Filling it to the max holds about 18g of beans. The grind have many sizes and they are clearly labeled for what type of coffee you want to prepare. The cost is great and the device is very robust. Grinding is very simple and you will feel the difference when you fully ground the coffee vs if there is more left to grind. Cleaning is also simple you can wash the collector. Use the brush to clear the bottom of the grinder and dump anything from the top. Highly recommend if you have the patuence to grind daily for the best coffee
- Reviewed in Canada on July 7, 2024Verified PurchaseI bought this grinder after having dropped my javapresse hand grinder a couple of times and broke the ceramic burr. Understanding my oopsies I decided a steel burr grinder might be safer haha. People say it doesn’t grind finely enough for espresso, but for camping and traveling I use a Rok manual espresso machine, and the timemore chestnut grinder grinds finely enough for that! It holds enough beans for a 14 or 15 gram shot, only takes 1 1/2 minutes for me to grind for my espresso shot. Very pleased with that! The javapresse took so long that I was tempted to grind more coarsely and make cowboy coffee. Plus once I’ve completed the grinding, the grounds catch on the bottom of the grinder fits nicely into the portafilter. The grinder also comes with a nice travel bag, and a cleaning brush. Because it is steel it says not to clean with water; I do find this part a little awkward because even using the brush I’m not sure if any stale grounds get left caught inside. All in all excellent for my purposes.
- Reviewed in Canada on June 14, 2022Verified PurchaseI bought this hand grinder as I was sick of the inconsistent grinds I was getting with my magic bullet. I was a bit hesitant with the $100 price tag but would now say that it was worth the price.
The grinder is heavier than expected and feels extremely sturdy. It looks great and is not too big/small (you can use my picture with the countertop plug in for size reference).
It takes about a golf ball size worth of beans at a time and you can do two of those before you need to empty out the chamber in the bottom (it becomes hard to grind if you overfill). Takes about 30-35 turns to completely grind all of the beans in the upper chamber but this doesn't take very long.
The grind consistency is great. Works perfectly for my Aeropress (1 upper chamber grind) and french press (2 upper chamber grinds). If you are looking for larger amounts of ground beans for a different type of brewing I would suggest buying the bigger size than the C2 25g.
My only cons are that the handle can be squeaky when grinding, it can get pretty static-ey with fresh beans (and you need to use the included brush to clean after use) and that the price seems a bit steep.

5.0 out of 5 stars The build quality is solid, and the stainless steel.
Verified PurchaseI’ve been using the TIMEMORE Chestnut C2, and it’s an excellent manual coffee grinder. The build quality is solid, and the stainless steel burrs provide a consistent grind size. Adjusting the grind settings is easy, making it great for different brewing methods. It’s also compact and lightweight, perfect for travel. The only minor drawback is its small capacity, but overall, it’s a fantastic grinder for anyone serious about fresh coffee.

5.0 out of 5 stars Completamente perfecto
