I tested the Thermo container before using it. I pour hot water in all 3 containers in the morning at around 8 am, and checked the water in the afternoon at 3 pm, the water in the lowest container was still really hot, the middle one was hot too, the top container cooled down to room temperature. So the small test made me decide to keep the container.
The only container that doesn't leak is the lowest container, the cap becomes really tight when you put really hot liquid in it, good for hot soup.
The middle container is not designed for liquid because the cap doesn't seal tightly like the bottom container, but it does keep your food warm to hot, I use it for pasta, fried rice, etc, something that doesn't spill.
The top container won't keep your food warm nor cold, this container is good for bread, salad/ fruits.
I use this Thermo container for my son to bring to school. I prepare the food at 7:30 am and whe he eats them will be at 11:45 am, my son told me the food are still warm to hot at that time.
If you want to keep your food hot, pour hot liquid into the lowest container, this way will keep the food in the middle container hot for longer time.
As for he spoon that came with, I don't give it to my son because the case of the spoon is too bulky and can only fit the spoon that came with the container, nothing else.
