TERRO outdoor liquid ant bait stakes contain the proven TERRO liquid bait formulation, now delivered in an easy-to-use outdoor stake. The only liquid bait stake available on the market, it provides fast-acting elimination of the queen and entire colony. Best use for attracting and killing all common household ants including argentine ants, ghost ants, cornfield ants, pavement ants, acrobat ants, white footed ants, little black ants, odorous house ants and other sweet eating ants. To attract and kill all common household ants, simply place the pre-filled liquid bait stakes outdoors in areas where ants are observed. Ants typically follow defined trails from the nest to food or water. Placing the outdoor stakes close to these trails will improve control. While the active ingredient in TERRO outdoor liquid ant bait stakes will ultimately kill the worker ant, it works slowly so that the ants have time to get back and share the ant bait with the rest of the colony, including the queen. This slow kill allows for the foraging ants to make several trips to the bait and deliver enough bait to the rest of the colony. This is the only way to get rid of both the ants you see and the thousands you don't.

Good baits
These are the only ones I can use outside around the house. The peanut butter-based traps are immediately broken open and eaten by squirrels or raccoons in my neighborhood. They don't have any interest in these and I haven't had any problems with ants so far this season. I like to place a piece of bark on top to keep it out of the sun and it should last longer, but it's best to replace them after a couple months to make sure the colony has a good supply of poison. The snap-off tabs are hard to use so I just cut them open using a knife.

    I set a few of these around a colony I found in my front yard. After a couple weeks the number of ants was significantly reduced. You might need to set them up in batches for a couple weeks. Unfortunately the clip designed to snap off does a terrible job at opening the product and leaves a jagged and tiny hole. You are better off opening them with some scissors or garden shears. However once they're open they function well. They are quite brittle and camouflage in the grass so be careful around them.

    Perhaps these work for some people but not for me. I bought 2 types of Terro outdoor ant baits to attack a huge ant problem. I spread them out all around the yard and in a garden area infested with ants and NOTHING! The plastic piece that was supposed to twist off did not work. I had to cut them off and made sure the hole was big enough. They do go in the ground easily but I never saw a single ant enter or even go near it. Actually walked around it. The other Terro outdoor bait stations work great with tons of ants clamoring to get in even weeks later and after lots of rain! But not the stakes. Won't buy them again and will stick to the other style.
