In our stereotype, Chinese tea is made from leaves and may be covered with a few tiny stems. The best tea is full of dry tea-leaves and the worst tea is most of the stems. In Taiwan, one of the most famous production areas of oolong tea in the world, the oolong tea produced here has its characteristics and highlights.

First of all, Taiwan's oolong tea is mainly grown in the high mountains. Therefore it has a special name called "soft branch oolong", just as its name implies, its branches are soft and juicy. It contains a load of aroma substances, which makes it more fragrant and sweeter after taste.

"One Heart and Two Leaves"

Second, Taiwan tea generally insists on manual picking. Only the branch and leaf on the top of the tea tree can be selected. We called it - "one heart, two leaves".

During the process of tea making, "one heart, two leaves" are made into a compact hemispherical shape by special technology. After constant trial and improvement, tea makers found that this kind of Taiwan tea with tea stem can highlight the charm of high mountain tea.

Authentic Taiwan Tea

After brewing, the tea-leave are completely stretched out. The tight and slender tea-leaves unfold to reveal their true features - "one heart, two leaves".

Only authentic Taiwan green oolong tea will retain some stems, which is also one of the standards of Taiwan oolong tea.

Easy Brewing Yummy Tasting

1. First of all, prepare yourselves for a teapot with a strainer.

2. Add 1 or 2 teaspoons of oolong tea loose leaf into a teapot. (Better to add it with a teaspoon. Don't grasp the tea with bare hands)

3. Pour into little boiling water (just fill the bottom) and then pour out immediately. (wash and damp, release the fragrance)

4. Pour into 8 fl. oz of boiling water. (about 185-205°F or 85-95°C )

5. Wait patiently for about 3-5 minutes.

6. Now you can enjoy it. Let’s start a delicious journey.

    It's not listed anywhere, but usually when Taiwan oolong is just referred to as "high mountain" it's usually the Qingxin (Jade oolong) tea variety which is my favorite and in my opinion, better than Jin Xuan. More floral and fragrant. At the current price of 12 bucks for 150 grams it's a great bargain for the quality. Make no mistake, this isn't $15 an ounce Qingxin, but it punches way above it's price. I've payed 3 times as much per ounce for budget high mountain tea that wasn't any better than this. Using about 4 to 5 grams of tea per 100ml of water you'll get a solid 3 steeps. Not bad for an everyday drinker.

    I love Oolong from Taiwan and this one is tasteless, extremely dry and not flavors at all.
    I think that it is either a really old tea or a really low quality one.
