What a great idea, mixing these two things, perfect for my pre-exercise routine
This coffee plus protein from brand TALCUFON is an instant win from me, including the two together is a great idea and I am glad that it tastes surprisingly good either as a hot instant drink or mixed together with the rest of my cold shake ingredients. The mixture comes in a 227g bag which is enough to last most people a couple of weeks if mixing with other ingredients, and maybe a week if you are having it as straight hot coffees. Either way, you are pretty much guaranteed to have your energy boost fix with this option. 5 stars.

    This is faaaar from the worst tasting instant coffee I've had, and possibly the best tasting protein shake I've had. If you need your protein and a pick-me-up, this is a very good option.

    There are some things that I like.
    The foil-lined package is very strong, and made to be re-sealable to preserve the freshness of the coffee / protein powder, and I appreciate that care in production.
    The included scoop makes measuring easy.
    I am constantly so fatigued that I often fall asleep using my computer, so I appreciate the presence of caffeine in this beverage. Also, I find it helpful that I can have better control of the strength of each cupful, as well as how frequently I consume it. This, to me, is better than taking a caffeine tablet, because once I have swallowed the tablet, I am committed to that dose of caffeine for the next few hours.
    The concentration of caffeine seems to be good, at least for me. A bit of a lift in energy, and no jitter or other negative side effects.
    At my age, it is difficult to incorporate adequate protein into my diet, so having it in a daily beverage means an important increase in the amount I consume daily.

    Unfortunately, there are also things that I don't like.
    I found that the re-sealable package was impossible for my arthritic fingers to open, and after struggling with it for several minutes, I gave up and resorted to scissors. The package is no longer re-sealable.
    I am baffled by the advice not to prepare this coffee as a hot beverage. My parents drank instant coffee many times every day, always hot.
    The powder does not fully dissolve in warm, cool, or cold liquid. I stirred very patiently, but never succeeded in getting all the powder to mix in smoothly.

    I know that when it comes to "good" and "bad" in terms of flavour, that decision is a personal and subjective one. To me, the flavour of this coffee beverage is okay, but unusual. It has an aroma of coffee, but the flavour that I got was also quite smoky.

    I expect that I will continue to use this coffee beverage at the rate of two or three small cups per day, until I have used it all. But unless that daily use causes the drink to really "grow" on me, to the point that I am really enjoying all aspects, I do not expect that I will purchase another package. It's not a bad product, but it isn't great.
    UPDATE: Up until now, I have been preparing and drinking this coffee all at once. But a couple of hours ago, I was called away with half a cup left. When I remembered the drink, and came back to it, I received a very pleasant surprise. All of the powder was fully dissolved in the water. This did not really change the flavour of the coffee, which I still find a bit odd, but it did make drinking it a much more pleasant experience. This protein instant coffee may just become a regular in my kitchen, after all.

    I was looking forward to this coffee protein powder as I regularly consume Brust protein coffee but not a fan of how much waste and space the tetra packs produce. This stuff was very disappointing though. Took a while to dissolve in cold liquid (both water and milk) and once dissolved, the flavour is very odd. It tastes very diluted and bland at first, then you get hit with the bold coffee notes. If you add creamer to it, you eliminate all the coffee flavour and can only taste the creamer. Overall just disappointed with this. Don't recommend it to anyone.

    The powder is clearly more whey than it is coffee, so the taste is mediocre at best. In fact, if you're familiar with the awful instant coffees they sell at the supermarket, that's about the level that we're talkin' here. So they really should've marketed it as "instant coffee-flavoured protein powder" rather than the other way around. Absolutely NOTHING like freshly ground and brewed coffee beans; so if that's what you're looking for, look elsewhere.

    However, what it is good for, is adding to smoothies after a workout. And they need to be blended because the stuff really doesn't mix or shake very well. At least you get the scoop inside, you can measure it out and everything. One scoop gives you 15g of protein and that's really all the body can absorb in 2 hours anyway. Unfortunately, the nutrition facts on the back don't state just how much caffeine you get in that one scoop; but assuming that the front of the package is correct, it's about the same amount that's in a full cup of coffee. That's quite a lot...although the two times that I've had it so far, the jolt wasn't quite as sharp as I was expecting. Probably because it was diluted with fruits, berries and a ton of water.

    So overall, I definitely wouldn't consider it a replacement for my organic black coffee as a pre-workout beverage, but it certainly could be a great additive to shakes, blends and even waffle batter if that's your thing. No need for brewing either - just blend it in [cold] water or milk and you're good. Personally though, I've always found instant coffees to taste super artificial and this one is no different. Does add some character to fruit smoothies though, so it's not all bad. Four stars.
