This is not a comparative review because its my first air fryer of this type. I got it because I wanted to try a drawer type. I already have the Actifry (the one with the rotating arm) and a toaster oven type. The Actifry is very limited, but it can do wings just fine and that is what I use it for mostly. The oven one is just too big and bulky compared to this. I consider it more of a mini-convection oven than an air fryer. If I had a choice, I’d go for this first, the Actifry second and the oven last. I have to admit that at first, I was a little confused with the buttons but once I understood how they laid it out, it was easy. You first select drawer 1 or 2. Then the mode. Then you set the temperature with its + and – buttons, and the time with its + and – buttons. If you are using the second drawer, you hit 2 and do the same. If you hit start without hitting sync first, they will both start cooking independently. If you hit sync first, they work as one. Meaning, one with the shorter cook time will wait until the other has the same remaining time. When you pull out one drawer to stir/shake, it will pause the other. I really like that feature. However, this isn’t large enough for anymore than two people. I usually cook for four, so if I’m cooking fries, both drawers are used. If I’m cooking wings, both drawers are used AND I have to do two batches. This isn’t the fault of this fryer. Its true of all air fryers. With the Actifry, you can load it a bit more because it self-stirs and therefore, food can be “stacked”. However, this can cook two different foods at the same time. The drawers being different sizes is a great design when you are cooking a “main” and a “side”. As mentioned, the buttons can get confusing but once you get the hang of it, you can stop/start, change cooking mode, sync or not. I still haven’t figured out how to cancel just one side if I wanted to. So far, I did a whole chicken, a couple of batches of fries and a double batch of chicken wings. The latter I did outside because it was a very hot day and I didn’t want to warm the kitchen. Oh, and some "hard boiled eggs". Worked great. Tip: remove eggs from frying and into an ice bath. Right away, crack the shells all around lightly (and put back into ice bath). After it cools down, the shell will peel off nicely. Works every time. This fryer is very quiet. It beeps with every push of a button, which can get annoying and there is a “flip beep” halfway though any cook cycle. I could do without that because I just use a timer to remind me. For some reason, it does take a little more time to cook food compared to others and not much shorter than using a regular oven. The reason to use this is because it saves energy but it also “Fries” foods better than an oven. You’ll never be able to bake fries or chicken wings any better than this. All in all I’m very happy with it and I would recommend it to anyone. I’m going to give it 5 stars because I can’t find any major fault with it. There may be a better fryer for the money out there, but I don’t have one. If you get it, I don’t think you’ll be sorry.
