Now, I did not try it yet. This is just an out of the box review. So far, I am please with the purchase and I have to admit a bit jealous... I may order one for miself. I own a similar one to this since... well long enough for me to forget. I purchased this one for my nephew. Came in in two days. Super sharp and clean. Impressed. The blade is thick and rigid. Maybe a bit heavy for small branches but definitely better than mine ( and I love mine) for the hard work. A bit uncomfortable in the hands but If it was for me I would just use some elbow grease with a piece of sand paper to adapt it to my taste. The hanble seem a bit slippery at first and I will recommend to take good precaution until there is enough FIR GUM on it to stick in the hand. The sheath... nice try. Look good won't last. Don't care none last long with me. I am used to make my own :-)

    Disclaimer: This machete was purchased as a gift so I have no personal experience using this item.
    With that said! My friend used this on a hiking trip in north Carolina and said it worked well clearing a trail that was overgrown with no issues.
    I did inspect this item to ensure it was fit for gifting and this is my opinion on fit and finish. First off this is a hollow grind blade which is very thin behind the edge so heavy chopping would probably cause rollover or chipping on harder/denser woods. however the steel seems to be a decent quality stainless which is good if it will be hanging in the shedfor long periods of time. The other issue was the wooden scales on the the full tang were loose but it was easy enough to tighten the fasteners, the addition of epoxy would be a more permanent solution. The scales are basically flat slabs without much in the way of ergonomics but are large enough to accomodate some customization, optionally it would be very easy to make new ones more suited to your preference. Summing up: for the price this is a functional tool and could be easily modified to your liking if so inclined. i'd have to say it's a good deal for a utility blade.

    After reading some of the reviews on this item, I saw that the main issue is the handle screws coming out.
    I removed all of the screws in the handle and then put lock tite on them and reassembled. I also wrapped the handle with some mastic tape (rubber tape) and now I have a heavy duty , first class machete.
    It has a very good, heavy duty blade with a full tang .
    Well worth the money .

    Bough this thing to chop through the shrubs in the corner of my yard and it did ok for a little bit. Even after sharpening it, I still had to put in extra work to chop things up with it. It'll do the job, but bring your muscle for it.

    It was nice for awhile; the metal piece on the bottom of the handle messed with my grip,but I cut down the overgrown bamboo in my backyard and a few small saplings. But when I was trying to cut down the hedge overtaking my fence today it just broke on me! I can't even return it now cause I got it over a month ago.
