The T edge which contacts the work surface was not machined properly on one side. Meaning that it did not lay perfectly flat along my reference edge when checking for accuracy using the pencil line and flip square method. The Swanson pro 6” rocked enough to throw it out by just under an 1/8”. My reference edge was a quartz kitchen counter top with no rounded edges, dead straight surface! I returned this square to 鶹 with no problem.
That’s complete crap as the Swanson square is very highly rated and I really wanted it to work! I ended up purchasing a Milwaukee MLSQ070 and it’s perfectly accurate when using my machinist square as a reference plus the pencil line method!
EDIT - I ordered the Swanson Pro again to give it another try. This one is great! It’s accurate plus I like the industrial appearance. One thing I found important is that this square stays in place on your work piece better when using it as a saw fence. Probably because the etched markings provide extra grip on work surface. The Milwaukee because of the very smooth finish provides no resistance and is more prone to slipping when used as a fence.
This is not the first tool to use for fine woodworking or joinery but it’s perfect for use with a circular saw and 2x material etc
