I planted 8 sunflowers. Soaked them and let them sprout and then buried about a thumb's length deep in front of the stable. They all grew and were stout, sturdy little plants when the raccoons dug up and ate all but TWO. I protected them and sprayed around with capsaicin. One was too damaged and succumbed, but one was left and grew. And grew. AND GREW and, I think is STILL growing!!!!! The racoons left it alone after I sprayed around it and then it just got too big for them, I think. The attached picture was taken on Sept 21. It's taller now. For comparison, the door at the left is a standard height exterior door. I've done nothing to it except water regularly. The stem is about 4" across at the very base. The seed head, right now, is about 1.5' across. I think we'll have to chop it down with an axe when the time comes - no garden shears or secateurs will open wide enough to take that stem! Because of the mighty height of this guy, we've named him Shaquille. Excellent quality seed. It's Ukrainian and has the same strength and will to live. A true Ukrainian spirit. Thank you very much for the opportunity to grow it!

I planted some last year around town most of the ones near to hospital were aloud to grow . Some of the power line park trails were left till after the flowers were finished . Trying it again this year . Last year was dry but because the roots go deep anything twenty plus feet from ponds and creeks did well
I planted these from seed and they¡¯re coming up but they¡¯re getting ready to run to be planted in the ground. Just waiting for a good 10¡ã at night thing so that¡¯s coming out real soon but overall they seem to be pretty good.
I've received the seeds 3 weeks before the date indicated in the order - a nice surprise! With an early spring we have here in Canada, it means I can plant them earlier - first in a pot or directly in soil. Looking forward to growing them.
