We installed this at the top of our stairs because we didn't want to drill into our balusters for our baby gate. The wood pieces are solid and don't appear as though they'll break easily. It's nice that there are essentially three ways to install this: 1) Use provided sticky back foam pieces to help secure plastic holder to baluster along with straps. 2) Use the straps to hold the plastic holder without peeling off the sticky back. 3) Drill the plastic holders into the baluster (which kind of defeats the purpose of no screws lol). Once you ratchet the plastic straps around the baluster, it's pretty secure. The only concern would be that the ratcheting system is also made of plastic, save for a few metal pins, so I would be concerned about longevity. But frankly speaking, you're probably not going to use it long enough to have them wear down or slip. All in all, solid unit, glad we didn't have to drill, would definitely recommend.

    J'ai une maison de 1850 avec une balustrade d'escalier hors normes (assez basse), donc j'avais absolument besoin d'adapter le haut de l'escalier pour y mettre une barrière. Nous avons réussi à faire fonctionner le tout, sachant que mes montants ne sont pas de la même hauteur, qu'il y a des courbes, des moulures d'un côté et pas de l'autre, bref un vrai casse-tête.

    Les pours:
    - pas compliqué à installer, bien que je suggère de lire les instructions
    - bien pensé
    - ça fait le travail

    Ce que j'aime moins:
    - ne fonctionnerait pas avec un montant de plus de 16po de diamètre (j'étais très limite, voir photo)
    - ce serait appréciable qu'il y ait un "tie wrap" de remplacement

    Au final, ce sont 2 bâtons de bois, avec 4 tie wraps et des "guides" pour ceux-ci. Est ce qu'on peut se fabriquer quelque chose soit même pour le remplacer? Oui. Toutefois je ne regrette pas cet achat. En 15 minutes nous avions la porte installée.

    These are held by adhesive and pressure so no drilling. They were fairly easy to install provided you measure and plan well. It also helps to have the gate you will be installing there as well (i.e. don't install this and then buy a gate. Have all of it ready to go). They are nice and strong though they haven't had any significant challenges to overcome. My son is about 30lbs and can pull on this without it moving. We have the gate that is meant for this kit and they work well together. We are using the banister to banister installation method. The only downside is that they look pretty ugly compared to the normal look of the banister, but I can't think of a way that the manufacturer could have fixed that. Just install and use them as long as you need and look forward to removing them when your child grows up enough to not need them. I haven't tried uninstalling and reinstalling them, but they did come with extra adhesive patches so it should be pretty easy. Definitely recommend.

Because of this I needed another means of securing the other end of each post, to which I found the following heavy duty 1" x 30" cinch straps to work really well:

I'll likely remove the ratchet straps shown on the top of my banister installation in favor of two additional cinch straps as it offers a cleaner look without, IMO, compromising strength. All in all I'm pleased with my installation, though this "kit" does seem a little expensive considering it's essentially only a couple of pieces of wood, brackets and straps.

    The adapters were very easy to install, but the wooden piece was too narrow for my retractable gate mounts. I ended up using the zip ties from this set to attach the gate directly to the bannister. It’s not ideal, but works okay for the bottom of the stairs. This system would work wonderfully with a tension gate or a gate with a narrower mounting bracket. Also, the wood is soft enough that I didn’t need to drill a pilot hole for the screws.

This system would work wonderfully with a tension gate or a gate with a narrower mounting bracket. Also, the wood is soft enough that I didn’t need to drill a pilot hole for the screws.
