A couple of times in the past, I let my beard grow out a bit, but I failed to keep it under control which just resulted in a scraggly mess. As a result, for a long time now, I have just kept it short in what I called the obi-wan style. Now, however, I have decided to grow it out the “proper” way by taking control by trimming, combing oiling and such. This brush is helping me to make great strides toward this goal.
The first thing I really like about this brush device is it’s compact size. The handle diameter is compact but comfortable. I tend to stand it up on the bathroom counter when it’s not in my shave kit (toiletries travel kit), and the flat end makes this easy. This means that it has a super small footprint on the counter, reducing the clutter tremendously. This flat spot is on both ends, so you can still stand it upside down while charging.
Speaking of charging, the included cable plugs into a USB A port on the end/bottom. It charges fairly quickly and holds that charge for several days of regular use, which is great.
The cover fits perfectly over the “business end” of the brush. This not only effectively protects the tines, but gives the unit a sleek contemporary look that I really like.
A single button controls the unit with a long press for on/off and a short press to cycle through the three temp settings, 140º, 160º and 199º Fahrenheit. One photo on the listing shows temps of 392ºF, 320ºF and 284ºF (see screen shot) which is nutty. Luckily, it does not have the same temp settings as our oven! I also like that the unit powers itself down if left on for a while.
I was actually quite surprised at how effective this brush is, mostly because of my Grizzly Adams habits mentioned previously. Amazing how actually caring for your beard can make a difference.
All-in-all, I think this is a great tool for goring a beard out.
