  • THOUGHTFULLY DESIGNED BIRD CARDS: Every element of the bird used on each card is tied to the theme and mechanisms of the cards: the type of nest and number of eggs that nest holds, the size of the birds and many of their abilities, the type of food that is needed to attract said bird, and where that bird will come to rest on your playmat.
  • THEMATICALLY DESIGNED MECHANISMS: Most bird cards have an ability that benefits you during the game. Many of these abilities tie into the nature of the bird represented on the card. For example, the parasitic nature of some birds is used in the game by the card not allowing eggs to be placed on it but giving you the ability to place eggs in other birds’ nests, just like these birds use the nests of other birds in real life. Some bird powers allow you to tuck cards underneath them, like a raptor eating another smaller bird.

In this third expansion to Wingspan, we welcome new species to our habitats by exploring the vibrant, intriguing, and magnificent birds of Asia. These birds were chosen from the over 2,800 species that live in Asia.

Wingspan Asia is several different things: A stand-alone game for 1 player or 2 players (Duet mode that can be used with any bird/bonus cards), a card expansion to the original Wingspan (any bird/bonus cards across any Wingspan game or expansion can be combined), and a 6-7 player expansion via the new Flock mode (for which the player components from the core game are necessary).

An absolute joy to play
This has to be my favourite board game to date. Elizabeth’s illustrations are gorgeous and so fun to look at. There are a lot of different anti gs to keep track of in the original version, this expansion has even more with the duet tokens which is both exciting and can be a little overwhelming at times if you like to move through the game quickly as I find often happens with just two players. I haven’t had the chance to try this expansion with more than 2 people yet but I can imagine it will be a lot of fun!

    Would like to have the food for the two player version available in the plastic like in the other editions. Really, really miss the nectars. Feel like you’ve stepped back a version. Like the Asian edition especially the bonus cards but should have kept the nectars in this game!!

    We picked this expansion after getting the base game (BG) and Oceania as a gift. I'm not a big board game person, but my husband is and were always looking for more things to do together.
    We were really interested in the 2 person mode, as that is typically how we play. The 2 player mode has easily become our go to way of playing. We really enjoy the addition of the new round end goals, as we found we'd often forget about those with BG.
    We have gotten to the point of adding in more bird and bonus cards in, as what is included is not quite enough. We were able to go through all the bird cards in one game once.
    we actually liked the addition of the card tray, as we use a smaller table to play, and the big card tray from BG can take up too much space. Since we do have BG, we are able to use the birdfeeder, which is really nice. Another nice add it s the "round end tasks" to remind you what you need to do after every round as I dont know HOW many times we have forgotten to reset the bird tray heheh
    Finally, the new board is GORGEOUS! We love that they are double sided, if you wish to play with Nectar (from Oceania) but find the side thats meant for this expansion is so vibrant and beautiful.
    Highly addicting game and be ready to lose your whole day because you just wanna play one more game!
