The RTD Temperature Sensor reads the internal temperature of the grill, communicating with the controller to maintain consistent grill temperatures. Replacement For Traeger Digital Thermostat RTD Temperature Sensor Probe.

Wood Pellet Grill Working Process:

Pellets compressed from sawdust and wood shavings fill a hopper and are then fed into a burn pot using an electric auger system. The auger, which is basically a long screw, delivers pellets to the burn pot based on the speed dictated by the unit’s thermostat. As the burn pot ignites, the pellets burn. Heat then carries through the home via convection (air driven) means, thus allowing air flow and a blend of warm and cool air to maintain steady, even burn temperatures. A heat exchanger separates the smoke fumes from the warm air, thereby warming the room without smoking everyone out.

    This looks exactly like the original found in my BBQ075 model Traeger.
    When mine started giving inconsistent readings, I mistakenly replaced it with this when the problem was actually a poor connection to the controller board.
    Before you replace you RTD probe, I suggest unmounting the controller and find where the wires from your probe are attached. Loosen the screws, re-seat the wires, and retighten firmly.
    If you do replace your probe with this one (which is a good one), make sure you've firmly tightened the srews that attach the leads to the controller board to prevent incorrect readings.

    My Traeger was not maintaining its temperature. After two attempts of ordering the part from 鶹 I finally received it. We installed it, but this did not fix the problem!!
    It’s almost impossible to reach anyone at Traeger to talk to. Chatting did not help!
    Any suggestions as to what I should do next, or what the problem might be?

    Well, this took care of my huge temperature swings on my Treager! It is an easy installation, but since it isn’t a direct Treager replacement, it doesn’t have the quick connect plug. But, I knew that before I ordered. Since temperature probes can be affected if you change the length of the cables, I left them full length and connected them to the original Treager quick connect plug with some automotive crimp style connectors. I only left a couple inches of the original probe wires connected to the plug. My thoughts is that if I want to replace it with an OEM probe later, nothing would be modified so I could just plug it in. It would have been nice if they included crimp connectors or even small wire nuts, but it wasn’t a problem since I had some already. Anyway, like I said, now my Treager will hold with less than a 10 degree variance, which my unit wouldn’t do from the time it was new. I highly recommend this probe and will purchase another if needed in the future. Great product for a good price!
