    I have a Koi Pond. Waterfall feature. That in itself makes for a wonderful place for Raccoons wanting to park themselves. I am also finding with our Climate Crisis our neighboring wildlife, Bears, Coyotes. and racoons etc are becoming more aggressive when moving into our neighborhoods. They say if you want an indicator of your environment or changes to keep an eye on our wildlife. I have a small yard so over the course of the summer I have had to purchase enough of these to cover all of the top of my backyard fence. My wife is an Interior Designer and Artist. The site of these spikes from her perspective Yikes........! Our fence is Grey so once the spikes were installed I have painted them flat grey to blend in with the fence. They do work. But if you are thinking of them as the be all as a deterrent. You are not going to be impressed. Racoons are smart, intelligent and Whiley. To support the spikes on the fence you have to take a look at the proximity of vegetation and trees on your side and your neighbors side. If close to your fence they will use that vegetation to offset your installed spikes. Either through mattressing using the vegatation to go over the spikes. Or Jumping over top of the spikes. The whole process can be frustrating. Just when you think you have one the day. Up the bamboo they climb. Use there weight to fall over the top, of the spikes using the Bamboo as a mattress. I don't have a choice. I either throw my hands in the air in frustration. But feel obligated to do something in assisting the Koi Fish in my pond. Bottom line is they are effective and do work. If you only install them in isolation without taking into account other mitigating factors. You are doomed to fail in the ingenuity of the Raccoons.

    I had (past tense) an issue with pigeons trying to make a home on my balcony, all of a sudden a couple of years ago. Landing on the railing, dropping massive deuces on the floor. Decided to get some bird spikes to see if I could discourage them.

    They're packed in a surprisingly tiny box. The assembly of each segment (exactly 1 foot) is quick. Insert the cross spikes first, then the length-wise ones. There are enough holes to screw them into whatever wooden you're putting it on. I attached mine with twist ties, because my railing is metal, and I think they will be temporary.

    It definitely keeps the birds away. You can hear them fly up to the railing, realize there are spikes, and emergency flap away. It's also discouraging them from hanging out on the balcony floor as well. I think they moved on and found a new home somewhere else.

    For industrial applications, you probably want spikes that come in longer segments, and are pre-assembled, so you don't have to fiddle so much.

    I have columns around my house which for the past few years resulted in being homes to various bird nests. Every time the birds were done nesting, I would have to clean the columns, curse the birds, and say I need to do something about this. But never did. This year I finally decided to do something, so I purchased these, and installed them. The took a couple of minutes to assemble, but be careful if the rods are not all the way in, they can fill out with some good force. Takes about 1-2 minutes to setup each strip. After being installed for the spring I can say that I really should have done this years ago. The time cleaning up after the fact was substantially longer that installing these before the nesting.

    The do get wet where I have them installed, and have no signs of rust. I did use some cutters to cut the piece down so the with little effort, just cut between the rods. The two side tape has withstood several high wide storms already on these so it is an option if to don't want to use a glue or can't use the screws.
