- Reviewed in Canada on September 29, 2024Verified PurchaseIt's a good sharpener for a mechanical pencil. It's got 2 settings for the kind of sharpe finish for the lead one is with a really sharp sharp point and the other is less sharp but still enough for writing without the lead breaking.
- Reviewed in Canada on May 11, 2021Verified PurchasePurchase this for 2.0mm mechanical pencils. And it works very well. Sharpens as expected and I like the thoughtful white sponge to remove any lead burrs. Details like that are what defines the Staedtler brand.
Something to note though, this works best with a Staedtler brand 2.0mm mechanical pencil. I have a different brand and the opening is too thin to allow for the pencil to sharpen properly. To correct for this, I have to extend the lead piece about 3cm to sharpen. This works well, but negates the point of using the hole guides that determine the type of sharpening you want.
All in all, a good sharpener. Don't think I'll need to get another one for many years.

- Reviewed in Canada on May 13, 2023Verified PurchaseYou can get different points on your mechanical pencil with the 3 sharpening areas, plus comes with cleaning foam insert. Also comes with 2 spare foam inserts.
- Reviewed in Canada on February 13, 2022Verified PurchaseThe sharpener comes with 2 small holes to calculate the depth the carbon stick needs to be to be sharpened, pointy or half pointy. Then the bigger hole is for the pencil with the carbon stick to be rotared in order to be sharpened. It works great!
- Reviewed in Canada on February 24, 2025Verified PurchaseDoesn’t fit most steadler 2mm pencils, but if you drill it out a little it does a great job.
- Reviewed in Canada on March 5, 2021Verified PurchaseI found it was not clear on how to sharpen the lead but watched a video and realized that you should only have about an inch of the lead showing before sharpening. It does give a very fine point so I was pleased with the result

5.0 out of 5 stars 2 1/2 years and still going strong!
Verified PurchaseI've been using this sharpener for over 2 and a half years now and it is awesome!
It works best work a clutch pencil rather than a click one because you use the 2 depth holes to bottom out the lead and then sharpen and you'll never get the right depth with a click pencil!
I use 2H, 2B and 4B 2mm leads and it works very easy on the first 2 but the 4B needs a little finesse (light pressure) to not break the lead a lot! What i do is if the lead breaks i put it in the the wider depth hole and slowly lower the lead in the sharpener hole until it bottoms out, then back off the pressure until it's barely touching the sharpening blade then i start my circles to sharpen the lead but I'm putting more pressure on the outside of the circle (not strait down or toward the center) until it feels like it's not sharpening anymore and then i push a little harder and repeat that until it is sharp!
This is nothing like the pencil sharpeners at grade school so don't approach it that way and you will get good results almost every time!
