    This is an excellent starter kit, with a sturdy rivnut gun, 5 different sized mandrels and packets of each size of rivnut included.

    One disappointment (but not a serious one) is that the nose pieces and mandrels have some metal burrs on the threads (at least, mine did), so you need to be careful when screwing them into the rivnut gun -- so that you don't cross-thread them in the process.

    And, remember that both nose pieces and mandrels are 'reverse threaded'.

    But, this will only be a one-time issue, as the first time you thread them into the rivnut gun will also eliminate the burrs. (Just be sure to wipe off the threads after removing.)

    And, just to be on the safe side, I will be using an oil to minimize damage to nose piece, mandrel and rivnut gun threads.

    Another disappointment is the rather flimsy plastic case that is included.

    You'll have to handle it carefully to prevent it breaking.

    But, in spite of this, I've still given this kit a 5 star rating -- especially because of the good value that it represents.

    I bought this specifically for a single project so wanted something relatively cheap and durable enough to install about a dozen rivnuts.

    I like that it includes an assortment of different sizes.

    Using the tool is pretty easy, just screw on the correct 'tip' for the rivet you want to use, thread a rivet onto it, insert rivet and squeeze the handle. It can be a little tricky at first and I found the tips/collets loosened off during use which can mess things up.

    The softer aluminum theads pull out and leave some material on the tool which can make installing subsequent rivets a little difficult. I got in the habit of cleaning them off with a file cleaner.

    The rivets themselves seem solid once installed and the internal threads worked well. I'd be concerned about galvanic corrosion between the aluminum rivet and any screws installed, particularly in a wet or coastal environment. Also as aluminum is soft be careful to avoid cross-threading.

    It worked perfectly for the small job I had and if I ever need to instal threaded rivets again I'm ready to go.

    I had no trouble at all with this unit yes it's a little bit lower quality than the ones you might buy at the tool store, but for 30 bucks you get all the inserts and it works just fine for me. Too bad I only got to use it for a few weeks because my storage unit with all my tools got burned to the ground. So I'll buy another one. I have no hesitation to buy this one again.

    Needed a Rivnut tool for a small project so didn't want to buy a $100 plus one.

    This worked pretty darn good for the most part and suited my needs.

    Until it buckled when expanding the rivnut and was unusable afterwards.

    It may have a been a one off bad tool or maybe operator error although I had done quite a few before that.

    So buyer beware. May serve your needs for smaller projects but may not have the longevity you are hopping for.
