3.0 out of 5 starsA great version of the game hindered by dumb corporate decisions.

While Sonic X Shadow Generations on Switch 2 is a great version and an upgrade over its Switch 1 counterpart, it's completely hindered by the physical release being a game key card and having to buy all of the DLC again. Which would've been forgiven if they at least gave us the option to upgrade by having the Switch 1 copy, but the fact that it doesn't and I have to pay an extra $50 just to play this version makes it all the more greedy on Sega's end.
I bought this since there's no upgrade path from the original Switch 1 release. I pre-ordered the Switch 1 digital deluxe release and none of my DLC transferred over. Also, "Game Key Cards" suck as they don't even include the game on the cartridge, just the license. I hope Sega updates this release when/if less expensive cartridge formats become available. I understand it's not profitable to use the 64GB Switch 2 standard cartridge format on a $50 game, which is the only size currently available. That being said, I don't see why they couldn't sell a physical deluxe at $60 that includes the game and DLC on the cart.
