How to use?

Step 1 - Remove the probe protector. Step 2 - Insert near the root in full contact with the soil until the poniter swing. Step 3 - Read the moisture level of plants.
Why it shows different readings?

1. The probe may not have sufficient contact with the soil, please try to test it in a different location.

2. If it shows really wet in some spots but dry in others, it may not be watering properly. Try to water around the top, not just in a spot.

Plant killer, that is. You don't know if you are over-watering or underwatering...I mean, maybe you do because you are a plant whisperer born with a green thumb but many of us fail because we stick our finger in the dirt and it seems dry, so we water (and drown the plant), or we go on a schedule that seems reasonable (and is for the jade plant, but the christmas cactus dies of thirst.)

This simple tool has brought my kill rate from about 75% to near zero, along with grow lights and some water conditioner (the home aquarium kind - a few drops in your waterering can will make all the diff - g##gle it.) I still have to remind myself not to stab the soil blindly as roots won't appreciate it and if you have a plant with rhizomes, you really don't want to be stabbing around. With that caveat, get it deep in the soil without any violent impact to the meter's tip (that could damage it, affecting accuracy), and then get it out. Now - after testing all the plants - clean it off, and put it away someplace dry and somewhat protective. (Mine sits in an artsy ceramic vase from le auld garage sale, with a cloth waded up at the bottom.)

If you're a good plant parent and take a sec to read up on how dry your plants like their soil to get (ferns want to stay moist, a ZZ plant will just rot if you don't let it dry out), you'll find it easy to fine tune the watering and make the plant happy. Extra credit - read up on bottom watering.

Prevent needless, repeated, ritual sacrifice of plants! Get this!

I haven't yet tried it on the long run, I only did a brief test with an already watered plant - because on the top of the confection there was a message about the possibility of faulty products (and to contact the company if it happens) - and they both worked well !!!
I used the same vase and spot. At first the values were different, but it was because I pushed one more than the other, after adjusting they were both precise and the same. I can't comment on how correct the humidity measurements are, however after a month or so I'll be able to tell if my plant's vitality improved from this.
There are many variants to such an outcome though, so who knows.
As of now everything is good, I'll edit the review later!
