    C. Spike Trotman was born in DC, raised in MD, and lives in IL. An artist and writer, she founded Iron Circus Comics in 2007, which has since grown to become the region's largest comics publisher. Her notable work includes the webcomic "Templar, Arizona," the Smut Peddler series of erotic comic anthologies, and Poorcraft, a graphic novel guide to frugal living.

    A Kickstarter early adopter, she pioneered the widely-adopted bonus model that's since completely reshaped the pay system of the small press, jump-starting the current renaissance of alt-comics anthologies. Iron Circus is also the first comics publisher of note to fully incorporate crowdfunding into its business model, inventing one of the single most effective uses of new media in comics publishing today.

    The comic is exactly what you think it is. Monster boyfriends, all of them. All shapes and sizes and stories. The stories and art styles vary wildly, but are still fun and draw you in. I loved how inclusive the characters are, including different body types and skin colours and character pairings. The monsters were interesting, many of them were unexpected. All of them were fun in their own way.

    Beautiful anthology. It consists of 10 stories that average around 20 pages each. I really like the longer form of these stories! While the other Smut Peddler series books are also really nice, I feel some scenarios suffer from a lack of page count for character or relationship development. The stories in this book manage to give the worlds the characters live in some presence as well! It's a comforting and sweet read, no gratuitous violence or non-consent issues.

    6 of 10 of the stories are f/m, 4 of 10 are m/m. All quality art and story, well paced, and the dialogue isn't embarrassing or unnatural amongst so many different writer's styles and characters.

    More of a 4.5 for me. I suppose I preferred the other smut peddler anthologies, since they had a wider mix of pairings... but I can’t fault a book called “my monster boyfriend” for not having any F/F pairings.
    Over all, it’s well written and has some lovely art. Jess fink’s story is my favorite, but several other ones are also great. Worth purchasing.
    I had to return my first copy because it had a few loose pages when it arrived, but it was quickly replaced by amazon.

    It's hard finding quality queer smut, but My Monster Boyfriend is a nice resource for getting your stash started. There are cisgender characters, transgender characters, a variety of body types, vulva owners and penis owners, monsters and humans, in an exciting mix of hot, sweet (sometimes hilarious) smut.
