This was an absolute HIT. I got this for one of my godkids and she absolutely loved it. She used one of the books to create a story for her new baby brother, using the prompt cards that came with the pack. Seriously, those prompt cards??? GREAT IDEA. I think something as little as that helps to elevate this kit to something much more than a simple art kit. SOME of the stickers were useful to her story, though the majority, I think, are fated to join her spare stickers kit. When she was putting her story together, she also used my various art supplies rather than just the markers provided in this kit, but luckily the paper is strong enough that the ink doesn’t bleed right through the page. What makes this kit a winner is just how happy and busy she was while developing the story (which turned out super weird and convoluted, but hey, that’s kids for you!). She was so busy and loved coming up with the next new plot point… and the final product looked so cute and, dare I say it, kind of professional! If your kid needs to stir up their creative juices, or if they already have those juices flowing and are extremely imaginative, I highly recommend this storybook kit for them!

I am very happy with the Skillmatics Storybook Art Kit, and the way that it is getting my 8-year-old into the swing of storytelling.

As a mom, I love that it is teaching him so many different things, and that it’s in disguise and he doesn’t even know he’s learning. But from printing, to spelling, to story structure, vocabulary and getting that creative brain fired up… there’s plenty of learning and practice to be had. This gives his creative and critical thinking a huge boost, and seeing his confidence and sense of accomplishment from everything starting to come together is worth it on its own.

This includes two DIY story books and I like that these are fairly generous in size. There’s plenty of room for creating the illustrations using the stickers included and drawing, as well as a lot of space for telling their story, even for kid-sized printing.

Just open up the door for some really good, great quality time together, but I like that that also includes everything he needs to give him the confidence to independently create his story; the writing prompts in vocabulary lists included have been very helpful. The stickers also help get the imagination going and I like that they’ve included some that are printed in full colour as well as ones that need to be coloured in.

Overall, it is a really great kit for exploring creativity just a bit more and expanding the imagination. My son has really enjoyed it and seen the satisfaction in sense of accomplishment, that comes from creating their own story makes it very worth it. I highly recommend it.

Nice little creative writing set. With good instructions and nice and clear writing cards. The whole set should get them going over the Summer to practice a little bit of their writing. I like that they included different vocab suggestions and writing ideas to help them think about what to write without doing it for them.

Overall nice fun kit well worth the price. Good quality.

This storybook kit is a huge hit in my household. Originally I got it for my 9 yr old son however it has also inspired my 4 yr old. My son loves Dogman graphic novels and I got him this to encourage him to write and illustrate his own books. He needs to work on his printing and drawing skills so I'm using this kit as a learning tool but it's still fun for him. The kit itself is wonderful quality and comes with 2 books, prompts, stickers and colouring materials.

Thanks to this kit it isn't hard to get him to practice his writing anymore he loves writing his own dogman style series. I've seen an improvement in his printing, drawing and creativity.

My 4 yr old has also picked up in the creativity and came home from daycare the other day with some paper staples together and drawings on them. She told us it's her storybook she wrote us.

One thing to note, although my 4 yr old is very interested in this kit I would say she's too young for it to be used properly.

We are planning to get another kit and we're going to use the two books as a family to write some fun stories together.

Overall we are very happy with the quality of this kit and think it would be the perfect gift for helping inspire creativity.
