I've tried plenty of different types of sketchbooks and this is definitely in my top 5 but it's not going any higher than that :/ I bought this thinking my markers wouldn't soak through compared to some other sketchbooks but they still do, not as badly but it's there. Ink seems to be fine though which is weird since I can get pretty heavy-duty with that. I've yet to try painting on these pages but I don't imagine they'd be good for water colour based on the markers, acrylic would probably be fine if you don't water it down too much.

My biggest problem is the perforated pages. I don't usually take pages out of my sketchbooks, I'd much sooner cover something I don't like up. So with regular use aka using the book for what it's meant for, a lot of the pages have started to tear away on the perforation. I've had to use tape to keep them in place but it can really ruin the look of a page - especially when the picture goes over the spine onto 2 pages and there's 2 huge strips of tape down the middle to keep them there.

That said, it's got a lot of features that I do enjoy. It's a good size for travel, the hardcover is decent enough to endure a bit of wear and tear, it has an elastic to keep it closed, and it has a built in pocket at the back for lose bits of paper. The standout part of the book is that it came with a plastic sheet that's meant to be used behind the page you're working on to keep page bleeding minimal - it's not a perfect solution but definitely feels like they know what their customers want.

Basically if you manhandle your books (which you should be, don't treat your sketchbooks like they're precious or you'll never use them) this book is good, not great but it's good. I'd buy it again if the perforated pages didn't annoy me so much.

I bought this on a whim because I read a fun blog about a sketchbook challenge. I didn’t want to spend much money so this one was an excellent price. The reason I’m so happy is that the paper is super thick… it comes with a silicone (or acetate… I’m not sure) to put behind 5e page you’re working on in case anything bleeds through but I did a whole page of acrylic markers and nothing bled through… not even a shadow. The sketchbook is smallish… 6x6 ish…. So perfect for throwing in your bag and sketching on the go. It also has an elastic attached to keep it closed which is super handy. I would recommend this to anyone starting out who needs a sturdy starting point.
