Includes the story “The Monkey”—now a major motion picture!

The #1 New York Times bestseller—a mesmerizing treasury of short stories by Stephen King.

An eerie-looking child’s toy harbors an unimaginable evil. A supermarket is unexpectedly the place where humanity makes its last stand against destruction. A trip to the attic becomes a journey to hell. An idyllic lake conceals a bottomless terror. And a desert island is the scene of the most frightening struggle for survival ever waged.

Featuring the short story “The Monkey” (now a major motion picture) and the novella “The Mist,” which was both a feature film and television series, as well as many other haunting now classic tales, this magnificent collection is enduring and irresistible proof that Stephen King is a true master of the short story form.

Great collection of short stories.
5 out of 5 stars
Great collection of short stories.
If you're looking for some short stories, something to dip your toes into I can recommend this. Stephen King's are pretty good writer, I wouldn't say he's the best and I wouldn't say he's the worst, a lot of his stories and my opinion are hit or miss. That's why the skeleton crew is a pretty good way to see if you like his style. I can definitely recommend reading the mist first. I recommend this novel to anyone who's getting into Stephen King and not sure what to expect. And even if you're not into Stephen King, they're great short stories that won't involve you investing too much of your time. Remember your time is important don't waste it :)

This book arrived in much better condition than the last one, and the exchange was easy. However, having received multiple damaged orders is making me reconsider not going to a bookstore.

“Night Shift” was the warmup—this is the anthology with King on all multi-faceted cylinders. “The Mist” kicks it off suitably, but even that unnerving classic won’t prepare you for the relentless assault of “Survivor Type” , “The Raft”, the under-heralded “The Jaunt”, and the closing bittersweet “The Reach”...

As you probably know, it is a collection of different short stories. Originally, I bought it because of the story “Survivor Type”, but I’ve enjoyed all those that I have read so far. I’m not done yet, “The Mist” is still missing, but how could it be bad? It’s Stephen King after all ;)!
