Aggressive teeth cut with amazing speed in green or dry wood, cleanly enough for use as an installation trim saw or for a crosscut at the lumber yard. Utilizes proprietary Silky MIRAI-ME (Smooth Cutting) Technology - The Teeth of the Future! Securely textured rubber-padded handle and reliable spring-loaded blade lock make sawing safe and comfortable. It makes a superb gift and ideal for pruning as well as cutting dry, hard wood. Comes with a clear plastic hinged carrying case for storage and carrying. Made in Japan. GOMBOY is available in two types: folding blade and fixed blade (GOMBOY-7 series). The blades are interchangeable between GOMBOY types within the same blade length. There are four GOMBOY blade lengths: 8-1/3-inch (210 mm), 9-1/2-inch (240 mm), 10-2/3-inch (270 mm), and 11-4/5-inch (300 mm). this saw is gonna be great for gathering up some firewood at the campsite. super sharp, nice length, feels good in my hand, nice and light. Wont take much force at all to saw through 6 inch or so wood. the case is kinda wonky I dont like it. hard plastic, plastic hinge, plastic locking clip and weird rubber...belt loop thingy? which also serves to very gently lock the lid shut. nice saw I'm happy to have it.

    In my opinion, Silky Saws are superior to anything else I've tried. My students tend to raise their eyebrows and get big smiles on their faces when they try the Silky after trying other models. I find that Silky Saws use considerably less energy to do a cutting job than other types, so I believe them to be well worth the price. In survival situations, energy-management is very important.

    Note that some Silky models have straight blades (like this one) and others have a slight ergonomic curve to them. I recommend considering what application you'll have for the saw before deciding on which model to use. For instance, the curved blade types are definitely more efficient at making full cuts through material. In this case, however, I wanted a saw that could easily make flat cuts for bushcraft construction projects, so I elected for the straight blade. I have both types, and I love them both!

    I have camped and traveled for many years. Over my time I have used countless axes, saws and knives. This small saw punches way above it's weight. If you look after it and don't treat it like a hammer you can bet your life on it for years to come, no joke. Easily cuts logs for building, trimming, finishing or making fire and does it in a hurry. Highly recommend this for any outdoors minded individual. Only words of caution, it's sharp, really sharp. Pay attention to your grip when using. If your hand slides over the blade when you are cutting it'll give you one heck of a bad cut. Wear gloves when using it.

    I love my Silky Saws but the biggest downfall to this particular model is the included plastic case/sheath.

    I would prefer to carry the case with the locking lid up.....but, the only way to do that is to use the rubber latching "belt loop" for carrying. I have not been able to keep this rubber piece latched after numerous attempts and ended up resorting to putting a small carabiner through the molded hole in the bottom of the sheath. This is certainly secure enough but does cause a bit of worry about whether or not the lid catch will snag on a branch or whatever and pop open and allowing the saw to drop out of the case. I used a small piece of duct tape to back up the plastic latch.

    Other than that, the saw works great, simple design, positive 2 position lock and the medium pitch teeth cut almost as fast as the coarse teeth on my Pocket Boy 170. Blades are easy to replace (just one pivot screw/nut which can be removed/installed with the spine of a knife, but replacement blades are on the expensive side and represent a significant portion of the cost for a brand new saw/case.

    Keep in mind that this saw design is a "pull cut" and only cuts on the pull stroke. Don't apply pressure on the forward/push stroke to avoid blade binding and breakage. Used properly, the blade will not bend and should retain it's sharpness for a very long time. A friend of mine has used one extensively for over 6 years and is still on the original blade which has never been sharpened.

    This saw chews through wood. It is a fantastic tool and is extremely easy to use. I've used it to clear out small to medium sized trees to create a walking trail and it does the job very well. It isn't too heavy and can fit in a deep pocket if need be. The only thing that leaves something to be desired is the plastic sheath, which seems to have a weak clasp and hinges. The sheath could also be improved by adding sturdier mounting points for the outside of a backpack. Overall, this saw is incredible and I highly recommend it.

    Silky saws are awesome, I own 2 pocket boy saws that I use for my work as an outdoor instructor. My son who works as a traditional oak timber framer kept borrowing one so when his birthday came around I asked if he would like his own silky saw... he decided that this slightly longer GOMBOY would be better for him.

    These saws cut so easily and smoothly. Silky saws cut on the pull (not the push) and are a dream to use.
    The grippy handle is also good and the build quality is high.

    The down sides are:
    They aren't cheap!
    Replacement blades are very expensive.

    I bought the Silky Gomboy Folding Saw (240mm) for camping and trail maintenance, and now I honestly don’t know how I ever managed without it.

    Right out of the box, the saw feels premium. The handle is comfortable to grip—even when your hands are sweaty or wearing gloves—and the folding mechanism is smooth and secure. But what really blew me away was the blade. This thing is razor sharp. It cuts through branches like butter. I’ve used it on both dry and green wood, and it powers through with minimal effort. The pull stroke design takes a little getting used to if you’ve never used a Japanese-style saw, but once you do, it’s actually easier on the hands.

    I’ve taken it camping multiple times now, used it to prep firewood, clear brush, even cut through a 5-inch log. It folds up nicely and fits easily in my pack. The included plastic case is a nice bonus, though I’ve since rigged a little paracord loop so I can hang it off my belt.
