Product description
SikaBond-T55 is is a low-VOC containing and super-strong, polyurethane adhesive for full surface woodfloor bonding used to bond Solid and engineered wood flooring (strips, longstrips, planks, panels, boards) mosaic parquet, industrial parquet, wood paving (residential) as well as chipboard can be bonded. Suitable for all common types of wood floors and compatible with in-floor radiant heating. Technical informations: Service Temperature: -40 to 77°C (-40 to 170°F). Skinning / Laying Time: Approx. 45 - 60 minutes. Curing Rate: 4 mm (5/32 in)/24 hours. Floor may accept light foot traffic after 4 hours and be sanded 18 hours after installation (depending on installation conditions and adhesive layer thickness). Application: SikaBond-T55 is applied to the properly prepared substrate directly from the pail and uniformly distributed by notched trowel. Take care to place only enough adhesive to allow sufficient time to place wood flooring into adhesive while adhesive is still very wet. A general rule is to apply the wood flooring within 20 to 25 minutes of applying the adhesive under normal temperature and humidity conditions. The SikaBond-T55 is a moisture cured adhesive and will cure faster in more humid environments. - Do not let a skin form on the adhesive prior to applying the wood flooring. Press the wood floor elements firmly into the adhesive so that the wood floor underside is sufficiently wetted. The elements can then be joined together using a hammer and an impact block and/or rubber mallet. Many types of wood floors have to be tapped from the top. Leave gaps at room perimeters and at any floor wall partition to allow wood flooring to move naturally The wood floor manufacturer’s laying instructions, as well as standard construction rules, must be observed.

- Reviewed in Canada on February 7, 2023Verified PurchaseI was looking to put solid wood on a concrete floor and this adhesive worked like a charm. The floorboards do not emit sound when stepped on (6” Maple planks), which was a big priority for me. The whole installation process was smooth.

- Reviewed in Canada on April 29, 2025This adhesive is no joke. Used it on engineered hardwood and it held tight within hours. Spread was smooth, coverage was great, and there was zero mess once it set. Definitely more industrial grade than your usual tub of glue, so make sure you're ready to commit to a full install day. Pricey but worth every dollar if you’re doing a proper floor job.
- Reviewed in Canada on March 3, 2025I ordered this SikaBond T55 for our office renovation project in order to put down new flooring. The first thing I noticed was that there was very minimal off-gassing or smells both when opening up the drum, and when applying it down on the floor. The low-VOC claim is true and was key to keeping our offices open (and employees undisturbed) during this renovation project. Our contractors ripped up the old worn hardwood flooring, finished and leveled the subflooring underneath (using self-leveler on any chipped areas where plywood chunks lifted up), and then directly applied the T55 before laying down new hardwood. Spreading the adhesive with a traditional trowel was easier than other products we've used in the past. In retrospect, the contractors probably didn't even need to put leveler on the broken plywood areas since this adhesive works well to fill in the gaps. After a weekend of having the area closed off, the flooring was ready to be used. I must say I am impressed with the lack of squeaks and the improved sound deadening effect this T55 seems to have had. The area is an upstairs board room and we were used to hearing staff walk around from the main floor, but that seems to have quieted down quite a lot. Note, that this product is not for floating floors.
- Reviewed in Canada on February 17, 2025The SikaBond T55 Polyurethane Adhesive is a top-tier choice for wood flooring installation, particularly for solid and engineered wood on concrete surfaces. Designed for full-surface bonding, this adhesive ensures a strong, flexible hold that prevents gaps or warping over time. One of its standout qualities is its exceptional adhesion, making it a great choice for projects where the subfloor may not be perfectly even. I recently used it for laying flooring in my basement, and it performed flawlessly, sticking firmly even on slightly uneven surfaces.
Application is straightforward, especially when using the recommended V-notch trowel. The work time of about an hour allows for adjustments during installation, ensuring precision without the stress of rapid drying. While the fast-curing formula means that floors can be walked on within a few hours, it's still flexible enough to accommodate natural wood expansion and contraction. However, cleanup can be tricky, as polyurethane adhesives are notorious for being difficult to remove once dried—so it’s essential to work carefully and clean up spills immediately.
The low VOC content and relatively mild odor make this adhesive a more pleasant option compared to some other polyurethane-based adhesives, though proper ventilation is still recommended. It also holds up well under varying humidity and temperature conditions, making it a reliable choice for radiant heat flooring and high-traffic areas. The tan color blends well with most wood finishes, ensuring a professional-looking installation.
One downside is that once the container is opened, you must use the entire batch, as the remaining adhesive can harden over time. This makes it ideal for larger projects, but for smaller jobs, it may lead to wasted product unless properly sealed. Additionally, while the price is on the higher side, the quality, ease of application, and long-term durability make it a worthwhile investment for professionals and DIYers alike.
Overall, SikaBond T55 exceeded my expectations, particularly in adhesion strength and ease of use. Whether you’re installing hardwood over concrete, radiant heat flooring, or working with engineered wood, this adhesive provides excellent bonding and long-term reliability. If you're looking for a high-quality, professional-grade flooring adhesive, this is definitely one of the best options available.
- Reviewed in Canada on January 7, 2025The hardest part was to find the recommended trowel. Sika recommends a V-notch 3/16"x3/16"x3/16" trowel. The only one I found is their own P5 trowel. I have not been able to find this trowel. Instead, I did buy a 3/8"x3/8" plastic trowel with triangular teeth, and I did file out the tip of the teeth to the specified dimensions. With the right trowel the coverage of the 5 gallons pail should be around 250 sq feet.
Then spreading the adhesive on my basement concrete floor was easy, and installing my floor did go quickly. The odor level was moderate.
I'm removing a star because you have to use the whole pail once open, else you will have a hard crust on the surface of the remaining adhesive.

- Reviewed in Canada on March 5, 2025This is a nice flooring adhesive. It bonds well to concrete with strong adhesion and remains flexible enough to accommodate wood expansion and contraction. The generous working time (about an hour) allows for adjustments, and it cures quickly, so the floors can be walked on within hours. Low VOC content keeps the odor mild compared to similar adhesives. Once opened, the entire container needs to be used, as any remaining adhesive hardens. Cleanup is difficult if it spills or dries, and it's on the expensive side. It also doesn’t come boxed; just the pail; which led to it arriving dented and made transporting it more difficult.
- Reviewed in Canada on March 11, 2025This polyurethane adhesive is perfect for bonding wood floors directly to concrete and keeping it in place. The smell is much less than other types that I have used in the past and it only takes a few hours to cure.
The package arrives with just the can and it looks like mine went on quite the adventure with the can being severely dented in several places and multiple scratches. However, it held intact.

Verified PurchaseIt is expensive stuff.
It works great.
It is worth the money.
We used the Sika primer over a hydronically heated floor with stickers embedded.
We then used T55 to mastic 6" oak planks.
