    I have never left a negative review but this item deserves a warning. I have purchased other shepherd's hooks before but not this particular one. Here's what you need to know:
    The design is poor. The cross hooks at the bottom are attached with little set-screws to tighten them, which stick out quite far and cannot be buried. They stick up above the ground at least 2 inches because one sits on top of the other (to form a cross). I've purchased others where the cross members can be at ground level and are welded together to form the cross.
    The hook where it makes an upside-down "U" is only 4 inches apart from hook to pole. Which means whatever you hang from it can't be more than 8 inches in diameter or it will hit the pole and not hang properly. Luckily I have a tall, skinny bird feeder so I was able to make it work.
    The pole pieces screw into each other but are barely threaded. The poles themselves are sort of crimped with a spiral to allow the other sections to screw into them. My other poles have actual threads (like on a big bolt) and are much more sturdy. It works but not great.
    Bottom line: I only paid about $13 for this (Black Friday special) so I'm not going to return it. But better ones cost about $20 - $24 and I would rather pay more for a quality product that is not going to fall apart in a year and will let me hang whatever I need.

    It was OK for the money, but I couldn’t get it into the ground well enough. It is definitely is functional! It’s great that you can make it short or tall and it is a great thickness plus the hook definitely holds.
