Do you like sharp chisels and plane irons? Do you like getting them sharp quickly? If you answered yes then go ahead and buy it. This is the fastest way I have found to accurately get a razor edge on my chisels . It also will put a micro bevel on them to if you use that method. Yes I can use my old school stones and achieve the same results but it takes longer and not all of us grew up around woodworking (I did) . This also worked on some of my small scrapers too but I was just fooling around and that is not it's intended use!! For plane irons it does take longer than a chisel because of the width being longer . Also your chisel or iron should already be flat to achieve optimal edge as this tool will not flatten the bottom so you're still gonna have to dress the chisel or iron before you really get the full effect.
