Sax tempera paint cakes with tray set is used for art education and activities, and has nine assorted colors, including red, yellow, blue, green, orange, purple, turquoise, black, and white, for painting in a range of hues. Each cake has covering ability equal to that of a 10.0 oz./300.0mL bottle of liquid tempera for efficient use, and measures 2-1/4" in diameter and 3/4" in thickness. The cakes meet Art & Creative Materials Institute, Inc. (ACMI) certification standards for quality and non-toxicity.Art education products are used by art teachers and students, and professional artists and art hobbyists to create visual, tactile, and technology-based artwork.     I bought these as a gift but want a set for myself. My vintage ones need replacement colors. I have not tried this brand and hope they are pigmented. But they arrived intact. There was powdery mess inside the plastic so not very presentable as a gift. But if paints are good it does not matter.

    Product and shipping bag both came damaged - these paints should be treated as fragile and in a cushioned box, but arrived in just a bag that was ripped, as well as the product packaging was also ripped and the paints were cracked, chipped with paint dust all over.
    If it had been packaged properly, I’d give it more stars but thankfully the paints work fine despite this.

    I'm an artist. I bought these because I was interested in the non-toxic opaque quality I associate with liquid tempera paints. These paints give nice transparent effects but it takes awhile for the cakes to activate to the point of achieving deep saturated color. Overall, I liked using them. I found it surprising that I was able to achieve transparent effects usually associated with watercolors. Once activated, I was able to get those deep opaques usually associated with liquid tempera. I like these paints and consider them a good investment. I gave them 4 stars because of the slow activation.
