Can I use the Thunderbolt 4 Dock with older Thunderbolt 3 devices?

Yes, the dock is fully compatible with Thunderbolt 3 devices. However, features such as power delivery or maximum data transfer rates may be limited to the Thunderbolt 3 specifications.
Does this device require firmware updates?

No, the Thunderbolt 4 Dock is designed for plug-and-play functionality and does not require any firmware updates. It is ready to use straight out of the box.
Does this dock come with its own power supply?

The dock provides 96W for the host device, and the rest is used for both self-power and to charge connected peripherals through the Thunderbolt 4 downstream ports found on the back.
Does this dock support dual HDMI monitors?

Yes, supports display at a maximum resolution of 4K at 60Hz. For your current setup, you will need to use a USB-C to HDMI cable. Dual display is not supported on Apple M1 or M2 Macs.
Can my Mac Studio M1 run dual displays with the Thunderbolt 4 Dock?

While the M1 and M2 MacBooks support just one external display, the M1 Mac Mini (or M1 Mac Studio) supports up to two external displays—one via the HDMI port and a second via USB-C.

* My mac setup does have an issue when I connect my monitors (4k @ 60hz) using a USC-C -> Display port cable. the screen will flicker when hitting 60hz (you can easily go to youtube, chose a video and hit full screen) otherwise it will flicker every now and then.
* The solution was to switch to USB-C -> HDMI cables. Not ideal but this allowed me to have 4k @ 60hz with no flicker (two screens)
* This seems to be a mac issue since this also happens with my caldigit TS3+ dock

Do not buy this device from seller Deal Targets.

The hub stopped working after a couple of months. It has a one year warranty but my seller is not an “approved” or “authorized” reseller according to product support. I’m up the creek unless the seller is reasonable. I’m waiting to hear back from them.

I heard back from the seller Deal Targets and the manufacturer Satechi . They disagree on who is responsible for the crappy device so I’m definitely up the creek. Satechi claims they can't do anything because Deal Targets is not an approved reseller and Deal Targets claims the warranty does not specify any seller for support of their product. No refund, no exchange $400.00 in the trash. Not impressive.

Since there is no specification on who the seller is, I can't understand why Deal Targets won't allow me to send them back the crap device and send me a new one and then THEY can deal with Satechi on the warranty issue on the device they're now stuck with. I wonder if �鶹�� can get involved.

This is a great product. I have it plugged into a 14" 2023 MBP and it works great 100% of the time. It is plugged into two external 23" 2k monitors (via TB4 to DisplayPort cables), aux out cable to speakers, an external HDD, a midi cable to my pod go guitar pedal, AND it has no issue daisy chaining to a separate 7 port USB 3.0 hub (with its own power source) that is plugged into a couple other things. I have no issues waking/sleeping/disconnecting/connecting and everything is lightning fast. It is sleek, low profile, and the finish even matches my MBP space gray. It comes with its own TB4 cable AND power source which fast charges my MBP while maintaining all that other functionality. It's pricey, but well worth it.

SIDE NOTE: about 50% of the time, I have to go into display settings (option F1 is a good shortcut) to rearrange my monitors. After extensive troubleshooting with Apple support, different cables, with and without the dock, different computers, pretty much every possible combination, I came to the conclusion that it's a known software issue when using identical external monitors on M1/M2 pro macs. So if this is happening to you, it's not the dock. In typical Apple fashion I've learned the workaround and accepted it in favor of a superior overall experience.

Bought this for my MacBook M1 Pro to connect 2 external displays using USB-C and with other peripherals, like external speakers, and to power my MacBook. Wanted to be able to just connect one Thunderbolt cable to my MacBook each time I swap between office and home use of my MacBook. Was using wrong type of USB-C cable initially for one of my external monitors initially which did not work - customer support was responsive although figured out issue myself. Lack of HDMI ports may bother some but I’m fine with USB-C for my monitors (and adapters could be used if HDMI necessary for monitors). Quite pricey but still cheaper than a number of others I looked at and there was a discount when I bought it, which made up for the cost to ship to Singapore which wasn’t cheap (and had to ship through another company as it didn’t ship from �鶹�� US to Singapore). I like the built and it’s working great so far, and I’ve been a fan of Satechi products for my Apple devices.
