The Antenna itself is OK. The Antenna plug does plug into my radio, perfect.
The adapter that clips on to the built in radio antenna is fine but the plug on the other end that is supposed to plug into the Sangean Antenna doesn't work. No amount of pressure will push it in. This is one Sangean male plug (which works on my radio) plugging into the female Sangean plug. Seems to be to small.

It is what it says...LONG and on a reel
It is more than twice as long as the included wire antenna that came with my R-108, but it is also HALF the gauge (thickness). This is, of course, so the length can fit in the reel and still be small in size.
The reel is about (depending on YOUR's) palm sized.
My intent is to use the included antenna when possible (larger gauge will be more durable) and this product when I need MORE antenna.
The rule is 'longer is better', but durability dictates a little bit of judgement. A thinner, longer wire can't take the same stresses (wind, moving limbs) that a shorter, thicker wire can. And I KNEW this going into this purchase.
The bonus is, this antenna comes with a 'clip on' 3.5mm adapter that adds versatility to BOTH antennas (this purchase and the one included with the R-108). So, over all, absolutely worth my money.
Having JUST recieved it today, I can't speak to how the antenna works (no idea if it is even better than the included antenna or the telescopic on the radio) or durability. That will come when I have time to test all three properly (away from my EMI/RFI surrounded house).
But, initially, for the price vs other similar options...no regrets on my part.
(having not tested it, I can't give it 5 stars yet)

My R20 telecom receiver was unable to receive anything at frequency range from 150 K to 29Mhz except FM broadcast. After I use this reel antenna, the situation has improved much better. Now I can receive 10 MHz timer shortwave broadcast from Denver. But I still have to go outside to have better receive capability. I am thinking to get a dedicate SW receiver with this reel ant...
