- Reviewed in Canada on November 12, 2022Verified PurchaseMy husband will be having surgery soon and he wears prescription compression socks. I thought this would help him putting on the socks after surgery. However, it really is not designed well. The bottom should not be flat but on an angle so it is easier to get your foot into the sock. Being a straight vertical design makes it difficult to raise your foot to insert into the sock. Was very well made and it seems all socks aids of this sort are designed the same way. Returned as not useful.
- Reviewed in Canada on July 5, 2024Verified PurchaseMy calf is big and this makes it easier to put my compression sock into 100% however I only put it on half way as my calf is too big.
- Reviewed in Canada on August 31, 2024Verified PurchaseIn the photo there is the u shaped half circle and below it is the frame used to slide the stocking down to the bottom of the frame. When you pull the stocking over the half circle and start to slide the stocking down, the lip of the stocking automatically slides into the open space under the circle. It is nearly impossible to get the stocking to clear the open space and get onto the frame because if you let go of one side of the stocking the whole thing slides off. The frame below the circle needs to be soldered to the half circle to correct this problem. I've had to buy a donner from another company.

- Reviewed in Canada on March 29, 2019Verified PurchaseI LOVE this, had been using that stupid plastic sheet which wasn't working for me... this has changed everything about putting on socks!! No more bending over and hurting my back. I did find that if I pull the sock up to the toes (instead of just to the heel) before putting in my foot-it fits more snug that way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple! Works!
Verified PurchaseAmazing! My husband is new to compression stockings and at nearly 80 has no fun dragging them up his long legs every day. It’s nearly enough to make him question if it’s worth it. With the receipt of this reasonably priced stocking donner it’s become a breeze! Hubs wears the open toe, full foot stockings and has discovered this tool is easiest to use if he puts the sock over the donner until the heel cup is completely outside the frame.
It’s simple to use and has made a significant difference in our mornings!

5.0 out of 5 stars Took a while to master, but now we're happy!
Verified PurchaseMy 90-year-old husband was advised by his doctor to wear compression socks, which as we all know are quite difficult to don. It took us several weeks to come up with a routine that works, but we are now experts! He does have mobility issues, so it takes both of us! Once he's seated on a chair and has correctly mounted the sock on the Sammons donner, I (age 79, & admittedly not quite as limber as in my youth) get down on the floor, cushion my arthritic hands with heavy, fleece-lined arctic gloves, and hold the unit with all my 98-lb body weight to prevent its sliding on the carpet while he pushes his foot (horizontally -- he's unable to lift his legs high enough to insert feet vertically) into the sock. Voile! Rather comical routine, but it works!
I should add that my husband's lack of agility (due to stroke, injury, etc.) prevents him from using the device vertically, as outlined in instructions above; donner must be placed flat on the floor, while he pushes his foot horizontally into the sock.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sock Donner not recommend for any person who had heart or chest surgery.
Verified PurchaseI bought this for my husband who had heart surgery. It took me about a week to get it right. But once I did it made it easy for me to put his socks on. As my husband could not do it himself, since he was resisted from using his arms to pull the donner up. So anyone who has had surgery or injury to the chest area. I do not recommend this apparatus.

4.0 out of 5 stars Once you figure out how to best use this device it is very useful.
Verified PurchaseFirst, get the correct size for your calf. My calf is exactly 16 inches and the smaller unit was a little tight and if I had to do it over again, I would have gone a size up. Next the tricky part, we tried using it per instructions with much difficulty. We developed a system on our own that worked very well. First, put the compression socks in the unit correctly with the heal in the correct position. With about 4 inches left hanging down place the unit in the middle of your walker. (yes, this requires a walker which hopefully you can obtain) Next, point your toes down and slide them in the hole and gently ease into the sock. This will put it on about 3/4 of the way. Now you should be able to move the wire unit out of the way and pull the sock up or in my case as I had hip surgery and can't bend, have a helper roll it up the remainder of the way. We went from struggling and tears to getting both socks on in less than 10 minutes.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bent first use
Verified PurchaseI’m an Occupational Therapy Assistant of 30 years. I ordered one of these for my spouse. Unfortunately I have to be honest. This is very flimsy and it bent completely out of shape on our FIRST use. It was a waste of money. Would NOT recommend. Go with the pvc donner if researching these.
