John Milton is trying to make amends for a career spent killing for the British Secret Service. He has a burning need to right wrongs—and rewrite his own bloody past.

He finds himself in Louisiana—the Big Sleazy, the bayou, and the post-Katrina wreckage of the Gulf Coast—with a debt of honor to repay. Isadora Bartholomew, who saved his partner's life, needs his help. Joel Babineaux, a ruthless property magnate, is out to sink the charity she established to help rebuild the Lower Ninth Ward.

Just when Milton thinks he has neutralized Babineaux's scheming, a dangerous man from his past takes an unhealthy interest in his present. Claude Boon used to work for the Mossad and might be more than Milton can handle. And then the stakes get even higher . . .

Salvation Row is the most explosive thriller yet in Mark Dawson's bestselling John Milton series. It's a book no self-respecting suspense fan will want to be without.

John Milton is back to Louisiana, post-Katrina to help a family that saved his friend's life during Katrina hurricane.
Joel Babineaux, a ruthless property magnate is trying to intimidate the community from re-build their homes on their own lands.
Milton uses his skills to help these people but encounters a dangerous enemy from the past, a man like himself.

This series is similar as Jack Reacher's series but John Milton is more interesting.

Milton does it again in a fresh scenario. The Robinhood theme plays out in an unpredictably hard way right up to the end. Milton bears a particularly heavy cross and struggles with his demon drink in a realistic way. He seems to have met his match, but prevails. KInd-of wished he would have settled with Izzy.

The story was good 👍. Izzy was annoying by never listening and always thought she knew best. Not my favourite character.

Started off excellently and became very interesting, regrettably began to lag and became quite predictable. The chapter where Milton and Bauchman were in the bar talking is a direct rip off from the movie Heat. The scene in Heat is with Pacino and DeNiro and almost identical. Little disappointed by this, likely not going to read any further into this series.

New Orleans 2005-Katrina-Milton is Number 6. He is buddied with a computer geek, Ziggy Penn, who wants to do field work. Milton prefers working alone; but he is one for the rules at that time in his life. Anything that can go wrong with this mission does and Ziggy tries to be a hero, which sorely backfires.

Milton and Ziggy end up staying with the Bartholomew family. Solomon and Elise are the parents of Isabelle "Izzy" and Alexander and live in a very poor part of the city. They take them into their home and call their son, Alexander who is in training to be a Vet. He does all that he can for Ziggy. Izzy, the daughter is full of life and helps both Milton and her parents. These are the people they are with when Katrina hits. They ride out the storm-ending up on the roof with Ziggy barely holding onto life.

Present-Milton is hiking again. He is 80 miles outside of Spokane when he stops in a diner. A news program is on and he asks the cook to turn it up. It's Izzy. She is trying to save her project. He immediately heads back to New Orleans and starts doing manual labor for Izzy's project by cleaning ground to be used for new houses. This is Izzy's project called "Salvation Row". Solomon and Elise Bartholomew once again invite Milton in and ask him to stay. He takes a motel room instead but regularly dines with Izzy and her elderly parents.

Joel Babineaux, a land developer, and his partner Jackson Dubois, with whom he grew up, are both despicable characters. They are who Milton will have to target if he wants to help Izzy They are trying to stop the project and will stop at nothing. They realize they have a big problem with Milton and decide to hire an assassin.

Avi Bachman, once a member of the Mossad, who faked his death to leave his wife and take off with his girlfriend is now using an alias and he is the one hired to kill Milton. They worked together once in the past. I do not like this character at all and I know, since I already have book seven, that he will appear again. He is not a likeable assassin like Milton but he is his equal or better.

This is an exciting book right up to the end.
