I use this for making my Keto Taco Bowls, they are the perfect serving size. I also made regular waffle bowls for my co-workers and we added strawberries and blueberries with whip cream, they loved the idea of having an edible bowl. I think this would be a must have if you have younger children, filling it with nutritious snacks and the idea that they can eat the bowl too would just be really fun for them. I love that it has an edge all around it so that the batter does not flow down around the sides and make a mess. I would recommend the Salton over the Dash simply because there is no mess to clean up.

My first use was a disaster. I followed the instructions and preheated the maker as instructed, then when the red light closed, it meant is was hot and ready to receive the mix.
I did exactly that and the mix "exploded" and it spilled outside the maker and even got inside the hinge. I exchanged it because it became broken, the exchange came in quite rapidly.
Now I tried again the mix but with a cold maker, not a preheated, and it gave me an almost perfect bowl!
However, maybe it's because I make shaffles and not waffles.
Here's my very basic shaffle recipe:
1 egg, beaten with 1/2 cup of finely shredded cheese. Serve 1/4 cup at a time in the bowl maker, as recommended in the maker's book.
It's a pain to clean up, because you can't pass it directly under the water. You have to waste a few paper towels to clean then dry and make sure no extra water gets inside, due to NOT being water proof at all.
It'd get a perfect score if it was easier to clean, and if the booklet wouldn't state to preheat the maker.

DONT USE NON STICK SPRAY, brush some oil or melted butter on instead. Mine leaked Pam for three days after I used it. Now, was this tantric drip of cooking oil across my counter tops and on top of a fist full of papertowels worth it? Absolutely. The cornbread breadbowls are amzing, I was eating them right out of the machine. The original plan was to fill them with chili but I was literally eating them too quickly. The breadbowls are a bit thin, so don't rely on them for structural integrity. It go hot quick, cooked even quicker, and once you get the hang of portion control, you can hammer out edible bowls like a one person assembly line.
