    I purchased two of these. One will stay in our camping van for our camping trips. Sometimes we’re in remote areas, where there are wild dogs and this makes me feel safer when we go on our hikes. The other is to take on walks with us ( in a backpack) in the city. We have run into, on many occasions, either aggressive dogs off leashes and have seen wild foxes/coyotes on trails that we like to venture out to. I hope to never have to use it but feel safer to have it with us just in case.

    A classic synthetic material/ heavy plastic “Billy club.” The handle is a bit on the wide diameter side, especially as it is pretty slick so I felt like if it was ever so slightly less big around, I would have a much more secure hold on the grip. I wrapped the grip with self fusing silicone tape, which solved the slipperiness issue, and looks pretty dope, but slightly exacerbated the oversized issue… still a net positive, in my book, as it feels much more secure in my hand, however people who have below average size hands, or even average sized hands, might worry that it could be wrenched from there grip, or even slip out when they strike something strongly. If this was a wooden thumper, the handle could be filed/sanded, or shaved down, to a perfect size for the individual user… I understand that they have to choose a size that they think will fit anybody who uses it, but it would be very easy to wrap a few layers of grippy silicone tape, handlebar wrap, etc… around the handle, making it wider, if a person’s it on the small side. The option of reducing the diameter is not really feasible in this case though.
