About this item

  • Unheard of reference subwoofer performance for the price and also for its compact size differentiate the SB-3000 subwoofer from anything available. A sophisticated 800 watts RMS, 2,500+ watts peak power Sledge STA-800D2 DSP amplifier, innovative new 13-inch high-excursion SVS driver and an optimized sealed cabinet design take control of a room with deeper bass and higher output levels than what is typically possible from a relatively compact subwoofer.
  • First ever 13-inch high-excursion SVS driver is an iron fist inside a velvet glove. Completely new design delivers punishing levels of low frequency output, while maintaining crisp speed in transients by stopping and starting on a dime with precision. An aluminum vented cone with exceptional stiffness to mass ratio and a proprietary injection molded extreme-excursion surround ensure flawless pistonic motion for pinpoint control and accuracy.
  • Conservatively rated at 800 watts RMS, 2,500+ watts peak power, the Sledge STA-800D2 amplifier maximizes the full potential of the 13-inch driver with effortless power and absolute control. The innovative design combines the efficiency of a Class D amplifier with the ability to move colossal amounts of current through the fully discrete MOSFETs for outstanding real-world subwoofer performance at all drive levels.
  • Sophisticated 50Mhz High Resolution Analog Devices Audio DSP is the most advanced digital processor ever used in a subwoofer and maintains pinpoint accuracy and pristine sound quality through advanced in-room tuning, optimized frequency response curves, powerful DSP controls and more.
  • The SVS subwoofer app is the most convenient way to control volume, access multiple DSP functions and program custom presets for one-touch tuning optimized for music, movies, gaming, and more. Adjust crossover frequencies, a three-band parametric EQ, polarity, room gain and more from your favorite seat. Bluetooth connectivity allows full control, even when the subwoofer is out of sight and bi-directional feedback shows adjustments in real time on both the app and rear panel subwoofer interface.

*Update 3/19/23...if you are only considering a subwoofer like this it may be tricky to hold off on upgrading your other speakers. Especially if your other speakers are in the entry level budget range (like my Polk TSI series). After spending some more time listening to music, the quality of bass with this sub made me start hearing & paying more attention to the deficiencies of my Polk front towers. I ended up replacing the towers with Kilpsch RP8000fs & am blown away at the night & day difference, not just the bass digging much deeper but mid-range...and the highs the Polk did do nicely with, just weren't a match for the Klipsch RP either. So at 1st I tried just stopping there for now as the music listening is transformed, only needing the SVS for home theater and occasionally for music with the Klipsch if wanting an extra bass kick (probably 5% if that of music I listen to needs it though at this point). I enjoy the Pure Direct mode on my AVR for music, which sends the cleanest 2.0 signal not allowing any sub use, or any eq boosts. Anyway didn't take long to then be displeased with how my Polk center sounded & now I am awaiting new center, rears & Atmos. I am returning the earlier Klipsch R41SA, it's part of their entry Reference series, now everything is their next up Reference Premier series. Except the sub though...SVS still is the better sub option dollar for dollar & pound for pound. But the more "premium" sound & feel of SVS complements my new speakers much better. Basically, if anyone is in a similar position just be clear on return windows & ultimately make the decision in time for that. Also be prepared to evaluate your current other speakers a bit differently with this SVS SB3000 in the mix. However - that said - it's just my experience, the SVS still blended great with my Polks in home theater...and the sealed nature allowed its speed & timing to do great with music. Still could not sense the bass was coming from a different location. But the quality of the bass vs the quality of the midrange & highs...for music...that's what led me down the rabbit hole of replacing my entire speaker set up.

Coming from a Polk PSW505, this is in a totally different league. Not just because of how much lower it goes (Polk rated as going down to 28 hz +/- 3db, to 23 overall, this tank goes to 18, and 17 overall). Room gain in my condo likely brings this even lower, as I have heard sealed subs benefit from room gain. The overall bass quality even in the 30s & up the Polk can output is much tighter on the SVS. Being sealed makes it great for music, but it's pretty powerful for movies & TV as well. It's basically the same overall size as the Polk (which was a 12" ported), this is a 13" sealed. I live in a condo so a riser/subdude was critical for the Polk & this SVS fits on it as well. When calibrated just right this blends in with my Polk speakers perfectly. Speakers include Polk TSI 400 fronts, CS20 center. T15 surrounds, & Klipsch R-41SA Atmos front firing. Connected to a Yamaha Aventage A2A receiver that I also just purchased with this sub. The phone app to control & save various settings is great, I can tinker with it from my seat. SVS customer service is awesome as well. One thing I learned from them is a y splitter cable adds a bit more loudness automatically vs the single connection. Also, the volume of the sub is not a standard volume setting but a volume gain. It goes from -60 to 0, and SVS has it defaulted at -10. I thought that was like putting the volume at 83% which was odd so I put it at -30 for YPAO calibration with the receiver. It made the oomph less intense at first & SVS explained how the volume begins being linear at -23. So -10 is actually about 50% of its volume. That makes sense as Yamaha said to have the sub at 50% for YPAO. When calibrating that way and keeping the Yamaha level in the negative it sounds like it should. Music sounds better/tighter/thicker (even at low volume) and I was missing out on a lot of thunder in movies & TV which often times have an LFE signal in the mid 20s & lower, which the Polk just couldn't output. At some point I will get another to have 2 subs connected to my receiver, but for now I am still blown away by how much better everything sounds (and "feels"). And this hasn't fully broken in yet...SVS said about 30 hours, I am getting there but probably at about 15-20 hrs so far. The tradeoff with my subdude riser is less shaking & rattling, but it's necessary to keep my neighbors from complaining. Even with the subdude there is the occasional rattling, overall I still feel it in the air if that makes sense. Chest thumping tight punching kind of bass is how I describe it...highly recommend this, due to the size not being excessive & the quality & depth it provides for music & movies/TV. The piano black is worth the extra $100 too, for me that is. Last thing is I recommend crossing over at 80 even if your fronts can handle bass down in the 30s or 40s like mine. Comparing the crossover at 60 to 80, the SVS just handles bass in general (even in the 60s & 70s) better than tower speakers. This also lets the receiver breathe a bit & focus the towers on what they excel at above 80. Try for yourself of course & whatever sounds better to you, go for it.

I was out to find the best sub for my gym. I started with a SVS pb1000 and then to a pb2000 which sounds great btw but then to a sb3000. At first I didn’t care for it until I broke it in for a few hours and tuned it with the SVS app. Here’s the deal: if you primarily watch movies, buy the ported 2000 or 3000 but if you listen to more music, which I do, definitely buy the sb3000 it totally rocks! And the pbs are huge! The base is tight and precise and the 800 watt amp really does the job. The search is over, I’m very very happy! And thank you Gramophone for a great deal!
