Even with the instructions, it took a bit to figure out how I was supposed to use this thing. And even then, it's not easy holding the knife at a steady angle while you go back and forth. It got easier with practice, and truth be told, it's not the end of the world if you're not perfectly consistent. But this thing is cheap, works for a variety of angles, and actually shows you what angle you're using, so for that reason, I feel it's superior to other simpler solutions. And it does work.

I'm a professional cook and I've seen all the useless wedges, indicators and guides and they all suck. This thing actually works! You go slow and keep the bubble in the middle and then you figure out where you're rising or dipping.
