- Reviewed in Canada on May 14, 2025Verified PurchaseI have all the Ryobi tools and this is also a wonderful product added to my collection.
- Reviewed in Canada on November 16, 2023Verified PurchaseI had to do two reupholstery jobs and dreaded having to use a manual stapler, not only is a manual stapler hard on the hands and wrists but sometimes the staples won't go in all the way depending on the person's strength, as a woman I don't have a lot of strength to do a large stapling project and have to take a lot of breaks to give my hands a rest. All my tools are from RYOBI so I had plenty of interchangeable batteries that this cordless stapler requires so I purchased it and thought I have nothing to lose. This Ryobi 18-Volt ONE+ Cordless Compression Drive 3/8 in. Crown Stapler works like a dream! Out of the almost full box of staples that I used not one staple jammed, not one staple only went in part way! Perfect every time! The battery I used did not have to be charged again and still had plenty of charge left. Fits readily available T50 size staples, it is very easy to load the staples into the stapler. A project that normally would have taken all day only took a couple of hours and no pain in my hands! Another great RYOBI product that I definitely recommend.
- Reviewed in Canada on March 5, 2024Verified PurchaseIt's exactly what you'd expect from Ryobi, including your own biases. Personally, I like Ryobi tools, they are decent quality, at a decent price. Professionally I prefer to use Makita and Dewalt and Ryobi rounds out those tools I do not use frequently, use at home, or do not exist in the other brand lines. Professionally, I can justify the added price for advantages such as lower weight, improved performance and increased reliability the premium brands often bring.
Regarding the stapler, it is a solid product, well made and has all the features you need and then some. The snap on guide lets you stable wires without driving the stable into them,. flip it over and you can use it to pull a screen/upholstery tight and stable and it conveniently stores on the tool out of the way. While you do have to pull the trigger each time you want to fire a staple, there is no lag time between staples.
Loading the staples the first time is NOT intuitive. If you are used other staple guns, you will try to load them from the top, despite the embossed message telling you that staples are not loaded from the top. They will fit and the stapler will close properly and fire when trigger is pulled, yet no staple is likely to appear. When you consult the manual, after a period of searching you will finally find a small section of just text telling you to load staples from the bottom. AGAIN, NOT INTUITIVE.
Once you put the staples in, close it and fire you first staple you realize just how simple it is, and a much easier and better way to load staples. You can easily see what/how many staples are loaded, remove those there, etc. Truly an easier and better way to load staples, but Ryobi, your documentation sucks.
From a time when I wrote technical documentation and provided engineering input for such documentation; this all could have been easily solved by adding a one simple diagram, a picture, an illustration showing the stapler open and staples going in. These days, most documentation is frustratingly a lot of pictures with little text and while personally I hate this, it does make sense in this context.
The stapler is balanced and feels much better with a battery in it. It is much more bulky than a manual or electric stapler, but it does not limit its use much. You can easily operate it with one hand and doesn't require you press down the gun's front to fire the staple fully, but to guarantee this I like to use two hands myself. Do not blame the tool for this, blame Newton's second law.
The box indicates a full charge will fire up to 6400 staples. I have yet to verify this, I doubt I ever will as I have better things to do, and I would not expect a battery pack to hold charge over the years it would take me to drive 6400 staples. Ryobi does not say what size of battery pack for the 6400 staples, but the number given seems to indicate it takes very little power to operate the tool.
One negative COULD be that the staple is fired about one cm (3/8") from the front of the gun. While this seems like a bigger distance than I might like, I honestly cannot recall a time when such a distance would have been a problem. It does require some adjustment though when firing precise staples; there is an indicator on the gun as to where the staple goes in.
As it is a new purchase, I cannot speak to the staplers longevity but do not anticipate any problems. All and all, it is a great tool and excellent value.

Reviewed in Canada on April 25, 2025Verified PurchaseExcellent outils. J'ai une gamme très variée des outils Ryobi et je n'ai jamais été déçu par le rendement ou/et la performance.
- Reviewed in Canada on April 28, 2025Verified PurchaseLove it. I've used it multiple times for large projects and had zero issues.
- Reviewed in Canada on April 11, 2025Verified PurchaseNow my hand doesn't cramp after stapling 100 things.
- Reviewed in Canada on December 24, 2024Verified PurchaseI usually stick with Makita or Milwaukee, but I saw a shootout online and for its value it was unbeatable. I’ve been using it for a while now and I’ve had no problems. It does exactly as it’s described and works as good as the more expensive models worth the purchase

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid product.
Verified PurchaseAlthough the condition of the box it arrived in clearly indicated that it had been a returned item, this crown stapler was in pristine condition. The box contained the original documentation and a small supply of staples. There was even a belt clip for the tool. When I inserted one of the Ryobi batteries I have for other Ryobi tools, the stapler worked flawlessly. It drove staples to the crown in hardened yellow pine. With the smaller battery, I expect it to be handy for overhead work. This replaces a Ryobi stapler/brad nailer that finally gave up the ghost after 10+ years of hard use.

5.0 out of 5 stars One handed staples without sore forearms.
Verified PurchaseI needed to do a lot of stapling on a project, and was not looking forward to using my old, manual stapler. I decided to look at powered options. I mostly have DeWalt cordless tools, but thought this could be a good fit. I already had a battery adapter to use my DeWalt batteries with Ryobi tools. It feels as well built as my DeWalt stuff, and worked great. I shot well over 100 staples with a single battery. It is far easier to use than a manual one. If you have a large project, I recommend considering this. If I was going to use it a lot, I might have gone with the DeWalt one, so I didn't have to mess with the adaptor. But it really isn't a problem, and I don't expect to use it that often now. Although it is so much easier than the manual one, I might start using it more.
