As stated in another review, the material is very thin. Should have been thicker. We have an older one made by rubber made, and it's perfect. This one. However, had collapsed hinges and would not lock together. As the material is so thin, it just Gives out during assembly. I had to use odds and ends to hold it together. Although I still think the lid will fall off in short order.

    Value for money spent is not here. This is all injection molded plastic and I would guess that it's about $5 worth. Even the quality of the molds is poor. The sections that allow the lid to pivot on the top can squish when putting the lid in place, and prevent it from going together properly. The sides just snap into the bottom and I don't suspect that this would last long. I expect far better quality from the brand name "Rubbermaid". Very disappointed and I'll be returning it.

    I bought this box to put out on my apartment balcony to store my outdoor pots and little garden shovels for the winter. It’s very sturdy and the perfect size for what I was looking for. It only took me a few minutes to put it together but I would suggest if you are planning on getting one to have a rubber mallet handy to pop the joints together. I’m very happy with this storage box.

    Well, an old, dirty cardboard box was working fine to place my outgoing mail but as we are approaching winter, it is time to upgrade. I chose this one over another because I didn't like the top being a separate piece that could blow away or something. It looks nice so I expect it to be stolen but I will try to keep it as long as possible by perhaps shielding it some with a bush and putting some flagstone at the bottom to make it heavy. I think the bottom allows you to fill with sand but i didn't have any sand and i couldn't get that plastic plug on for the life of me so i just put tape over the hole to keep spiders out. Instructions are on the box. Assembly was a snap! Haha. Literally. I thought they sent me the wrong thing at first because the listing didn't say anything about a box for grill accessories. I've got my stickers applied and I will know more about this if it doesn't get stolen before the rain comes but i am going to feebly attach it to my fence using a bungee cord under the lid. Another reviewer mentioned something that I fully didn't understand until I received mine and that is the lid can snap closed but too tightly in my opinion. You have to wrestle to lift the lid if you snapped it shut so I took some clear shipping tape and rolled it into the shape of the hole to prevent someone from snapping it shut. I can totally see my mail carrier not collecting my mail because she couldn't open the lid. I love it that the thing came in only 4 pieces that snapped together. If anyone has an idea to keep it from getting stolen, do tell.

    I have a small mailbox and get a lot of packages from the post office and several other delivery services. Most of the time, the drivers will just toss my packages on my front steps or by my garage. I saw this deck box and wondered if it would be a good idea to use it for packages, especially in bad weather. It was not hard to put together and bigger than I expected. It is very sturdy and a nice chocolate color. I put a sign on it telling delivery companies to put my packages in the box and it's worked great. I know where my packages are and they are kept dry when it is raining. There is plenty of room for several packages and it looks nice. It helps the delivery people to know where to leave my packages. I bought some specific stickers that stand out telling all delivery companies to use the box and it's been great. I wish I would have done this years ago. I am impressed with the sturdiness and quality of this box.

    No interior instructions, just diagrams on otside of box.

    * * We had trouble assembling these 4 molded walls on base ~ should be easy but they kept flopping over!! I was ready to give up until I read a couple recent customer reviews where they stated: SIDES / WALLS SNAP TOGETHER AT BASE AND YOU CAN ACTUALLY HEAR IT! * * Then it becomes very stable!! {Put two opposite sides at a time.}

    They were right.

    THE LID: with some push-pull I was able connect the hinge to the plastic pins. And, it snapped shut, tightly.

    But, TOO TIGHTLY! I couldn't get lid back open without using extreme measures. I actually had to hit the top side of the unit several times where it was latched to get it done. That was not acceptable to me, plus painful to do each time I wanted access to inside.

    I wondered how long this unit would last, taking a pounding like that each time?

    I then went back to reviews and found one customer that said he actually filled in the female portion of locking lid ( with what I don't know) and just let the lid rest there. I tried that (temporarily) filling it with some electrical tape. But, that defeats the whole purpose of the lid stopping water or insects from getting inside. No tight fit.

    I then took a flathead screwdriver and scraped away a small portion of the female molded plastic part of the lid. . .trial & error. And with about 4 rotations of that tool, the lid came down perfectly on male counterpart - it snapped shut just fine and NOW when I open it up, it hardly takes any effort, whatsoever!

    Voila! 😁 ! A successful fix for two frustrating issues ! ! !

    I did not put sand in the bottom because it's not sitting in an exposed area outside. If it was, I would use water, instead of sand, just like some plastic umbrella base manufacturer's suggest. Same concept.

    I'm giving it 4**** because manufacturer neglected to mention about the important & necessary ✓ audible locking/snapping √ at base, that the majority of customers knew nothing about.

    I just purchased this 19.2 gallon Rubbermaid Mini Deck Storage Box (Rubbermaid calls it their "Grill Accessory Box") primarily to store a standard 20 pound propane tank. In addition to the one I have attached to my grill, I want to keep a backup propane tank on-hand, since it's difficult to know when my BBQ tank will run out. Having to run out for a tank exchange is not fun when you have a half-cooked steak on the grill. Rather than just having the backup tank sitting on my patio, I thought it would look much nicer if I kept it inside a storage box, which would also protect it from the weather.

    This Rubbermaid storage box arrived in six pieces (bottom, top, front, back, and two sides) and assembles very easily. If you want to, you can add sand into the inside of the hollow bottom piece for extra weight. There is a hole and a provided plug for this purpose. I did not add any sand and don't miss it. To assemble, place the bottom piece on the floor, then snap in the front and back pieces. You must press down very hard until you hear the loud "pop" that indicates the piece has snapped into a locked position. Next add the two side panels, which will join the front and back pieces. These also snap into a locked position with a loud "pop" after pressing down very hard. Finally add the hinged top. Slide one of the holes in the top into the "pin" on the back piece, then press down until the other pin snaps into it's hole. Assembly is now done and took me about 2 to 3 minutes total.

    The plastic panel pieces are double-walled with an air space inside and are made of very durable feeling plastic. Once assembled, the storage box feels very sturdy and solid. No wobble at all. I did notice a little bit of "flash", where the molded plastic escapes along the seam (see my photos). There was enough flash in one spot to keep the lid from fully closing. This was easily trimmed off using a box cutter, a 5 second operation (see the "after photo"). No other significant defects were seen.

    Overall, I am impressed at the quality of this storage box for the price. This will work perfectly to store my extra propane tank. I look forward to many years of use.

    EDIT 9/12/2023 - I've owned this deck box for over two years now and it's still looking like brand new after two years of being outside all year long. Spiders tend to like the inside so I need to occasionally clean it out. This box has worked out great for my extra propane tank storage and I highly recommend it.

Slide one of the holes in the top into the "pin" on the back piece, then press down until the other pin snaps into it's hole. Assembly is now done and took me about 2 to 3 minutes total.

    The plastic panel pieces are double-walled with an air space inside and are made of very durable feeling plastic. Once assembled, the storage box feels very sturdy and solid. No wobble at all. I did notice a little bit of "flash", where the molded plastic escapes along the seam (see my photos). There was enough flash in one spot to keep the lid from fully closing. This was easily trimmed off using a box cutter, a 5 second operation (see the "after photo"). No other significant defects were seen.

    Overall, I am impressed at the quality of this storage box for the price. This will work perfectly to store my extra propane tank. I look forward to many years of use.

    EDIT 9/12/2023 - I've owned this deck box for over two years now and it's still looking like brand new after two years of being outside all year long. Spiders tend to like the inside so I need to occasionally clean it out. This box has worked out great for my extra propane tank storage and I highly recommend it.

    One star one for being made in USA. Don't buy this. It was fairly easy to assemble and stays put in the wind. But the wind caught the lid one day (perhaps it was not snapped down tight) and the lid blew completely off and now the lid attachment is too broken to hold the lid on. The mail delivery person really liked this for ease of use for package drops. But without a functional lid, it can't be left outside any more. It might still be useful to hold long-handled items as the weighted base will keep it from tipping over. Buy something with a hardware hinge or no hinge at all. Rubbermaid sent a replacement product under warranty, but the replacement lid hinge broke when I assembled it. Very bad design. Don't buy.
