This is now my ‘go to’ sponge for painting and a must have when painting.

I bought these along with the country chic paint to use for my kitchen cupboards. This applicator wastes a tremendous amount of paint and smears, and is just horrible for coverage. On Day 2 of my project, I decided to pull out my small foam roller from the dollar store, and the process went much faster, and the coverage was far superior to these silly things. I wasted so much paint starting with this. Now I know its foam rollers all the way - and a small chalk paint brush for getting into grooves and corners.

These super soft spongy applicators apply the most amazing smooth and thin coat of paint or top coat that is unmatched by any style of brush. Only a sprayer could provide such an even brush stroke free finish. Pour small qty of chalk paint onto a paper plate or paint tray, dap sponge into paint a few times and press excess out. Wipe pieces slowly and evenly from one edge to the other edge, overlapping each previous pass by ⅓. The drying time is ridiculously fast as the paint applied is so thin. Yes you will need more coats but a brushed cabinet took 20 minutes and a sponge application 4 minutes. Within 10 minutes a second coat was applied and 20 minutes later a gently 3rd coat where needed. Advantage number 2 is that edge, round over, crevice painting is rapid and even too. But my fav is applying a clean clear top coat of poly in mere seconds without worrying about brush hairs sticking.
