    My old cable had disconnected from the brake mechanism and after a botched repair job (or two) the cable wire strands had frayed and would not longer insert properly into the brake. It's very nice to have this because I can now repair the rollator and have the confidence that she can use the brakes (squeeze-up or locked-down) whenever she's mobile.
