Almost perfect!
The Roland Bridge Cast is an *almost* perfect audio interface/digital audio mixer. While I still give this device 5 stars, heres my ONE struggle I personally have with this device. The phones/headphones output gives a noticeable hiss with my IEMs, this is because the jack on the device is designed for gaming headsets/headphones with mics, which changes the 3.5mm connector at the end of the headset. If you're using a headset with a mic you will not be affected by this. My solution is using the Line Out which is a different type of 3.5mm output, and I get a clear signal, now while I never will use the Line Out for anything but my headphones this may be a turning point for you. This device is probably best price for an audio interface/digital audio mixer combo, the closest competitor I could find was the Fifine Audio Mixer, while it's a great price, it doesn't have nice preamps for high end mics. I use the Shure SM7B which is notoriously quiet and needs a lot of clean gain, and the Roland Bridge Cast has that while the cheap Fifine mixer does not. The customizable RGB on this is nice, you can also turn this off. The knobs are labeled on the bottom but in the software you can have them control any other sound such as music etc. I would prefer if they weren't labeled because I have changed mine but thats just a small visual gripe. The software is decent, I find a lot of the features in mic cleanup useless, the low cut isn't something I use, the noise suppression and gate are way to harsh and change the tone of the mic and the EQ section is mid at best. I dont really use this section so it doesnt bother me that its not that good. The set up for this is a little hard, it's definitely not just plug and play, but there are videos on youtube to show you how to set it up. I personally love this besides my small gripes, I have a single monitor set up and being able to control all my volumes individually without having to tab out is perfect! The fact that this also runs my mic, it streamlines my desk and keeps it clean. Now I dont have 2 separate interfaces for my mic and audio.

Powering a dynamic XLR mic, the Roland Bridgecast has everything you need. Setup was simple as plug and the software gives more options for customizing. You have the option to switch between personal and stream mix with a button press, as well as voice effects. The Bridgecast has different routing options so you can easily separate game, music, chat and system sounds. Build quality is solid and has a bit of heft to it.

I had been using the Elgato Wave XLR for the past couple years, and as many features as it has, it doesn't do anything great. I would get static pops coming from all sources, constantly having to unplug and plug back in the device or completely restart my computer after leaving it for the day because it's completely stopped working.

I have been very happy with the Roland Bridge Cast. It is very easy to navigate the software and get the sound you want out of it. Once you set everything up, there is no need to open the software again as all the processing takes place on the device itself.

I'm impressed by the noise suppression on this unit! My PC sits on the desk beside me in a massive case with eight 3000rpm Noctua F12 industrial fans on two 480mm radiators, and I don't even have to turn the suppression level up from the minimum. As long is it's switched on, all the noise is removed.

The EQ has plenty of bands with adjustable frequency, level and Q value to get the sound exactly as you like it.

The pre-amps are clean and powerful, I am a quiet talker and using the ElectroVoice RE320 I'm only at 35db of gain. I don't think it's a particularly hard to drive microphone, but I believe it will drive the Sure SM7B without any issues and no cloudlifter.

The dials can be customized to control whatever inputs you like, and the buttons can do many other features beside mute. For instance the mic mute button you can set to only mute the mic to the stream mix, so you can talk freely on discord without the stream hearing private conversation. But the buttons can be assigned to many different features or sound effects.

I could go on forever as there are many features built into this device, but I'll move on to things I miss about the Wave XLR.

The Wave XLR allows you to use VST plugins and other filters, gates, eq's etc. on every source. I like putting noise suppression and a compressor on my chat input so noisy people who don't use push to talk would sound better and eliminate constant background noise on their end. All the features of the Wave are useless when it has the problems i mentioned at the top of the review.

Running all those filters in Wave Link comes at the cost of performance also, because it's all run in software and not on device like the Roland.

I have no regrets buying the Roland Bridge Cast, the functionality and performance you get from this device for the money is unbeatable value and the build quality is excellent, I was considering the smaller Bridge Cast One, but i am glad I went with this instead.

This product has a lot of great features, a solid amount of inputs/outputs, different channels with corresponding knobs and buttons, easy to use software, seemingly solid build quality. This was looking to be a great option as a replacement for the GoXLR mini. So buying it with that in mind I connected it in the same way that the GoXLR works with a dual PC settup. Just to learn that Roland's unit has an aux input that just flat out doesn't work. When you attempt to plug anything into it a loud buzzing noise plays through your headphones. This can be fixed by turning the aux knob down to 0% (aka by muting the aux defeating the purpose of the I/o slot.)
This is an issue that Roland is aware of but nothing has been done to resolve it. If you plan to buy this for one pc it will most likely do the job but if you're looking to use a dual PC settup I'd suggest either going with the GoXLR or potentially trying the Bridge cast X which just released.

It is a great Mixer and a lil more complicated then GOXLR but a BIG upgrade. However over the last few weeks I've noticed if to many sounds are playing at once, it has a tendency to lose all the audio until you unplug and replug it in. not sure if I got a defective one which is why it goes down for me. other then that its amazing!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best, (almost) perfect XLR interface/ mixer **Updated April 2023**
Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2023

    **UPDATE**
So I've been using the bridge cast for a few months, and I have now bumped this product up to 5 stars. Roland did release the dedicated Mac usb update which allows you to map more audio sources to your dials like you could with your PC which has been amazing! You will still be limited by macOS's ability, or inability to do proper audio routing, but using an app like Rouge Amoeba's Loopback.

Another complaint I had was in regard to EQ settings on profiles. While you cannot do exactly as I described in my original post, you can set different EQs, and set this to a desired dial, and then save that to a profile. I then realized you can set any of the mute buttons to swap between profiles, effectively giving you want I originally was hoping for. This does mean you have to forego having a mute button under one of your dials, but you can always swap profiles in the app itself.

The other issue I was having was in regard to the mic dial, and not quite understanding how it worked. After tinkering around, I realized that in your audio settings, there are inputs for personal, and stream. I don't do any streaming on twitch/ youtube, but understood how the concept sub mixes worked. I guess I just didn't see the that the mic input had two different sources you could choose from (other inputs/ outputs do not), so that one was on me for not understanding.

I can honestly say that this product is a vast improvement over the goxlr mini I had which I still do not miss to this day. I've tested many other xlr interfaces/ mixers at this point, and the rodecaster pro 2 still is the only thing that compares to the bridge cast (at over double the price), and for me, the only real thing that it has over the bridge cast at this point is the native ability to adjust bluetooth audio...but even that can be remedied on a PC by using a 3.5mm jack into the headphone jack, and into the line in on your pc.

The small form factor, and sheer amount of control you get with this thing is bar-none. I highly recommend the bridge cast if you want an elegant audio solution for either mac, or pc.

    *Original Post*

This thing is the most 4.5 star product, and is SO CLOSE to being 5 stars. I'll gladly update my review in the coming months if a few, minor nitpicks can get addressed. As it stands though, this is a great product, and an improvement over the GOXLR mini that I was previously using.

This thing has so many great features, and does a lot of the things I wanted my goxlr mini to do, but couldn't. The extra dials are much appreciated, so I have more tactile control over all of my audio sources, the device itself is sleek, and modern, and while it doesn't have as robust a routing table as the goxlr, the software is pretty straight-forward, and allows for a good bit of customization. One of my favorite features is in regard to dealing with submixes, and adjusting audio input, and output for your personal mix, and your stream's mix. You can do this on the fly using the device itself; no need to open the software, and it's very intuitive.

The dials all feel really nice, and the four main dials are ratcheted, so you get nice feedback with each turn. The other 5 dials are not ratcheted, but do have start, and stop points which I personally really appreciate. This combined with white markers on the dials allows you to easily tell your minimum, and maximum levels. I also appreciate being able to set, and easily swap to different mic effects, and EQ settings on the device itself with the small buttons at the top. I VASTLY prefer this to the giant pads on the goxlr, and other interfaces.

This product really is great, and I would highly recommend people purchase this as it stands. As for the reasons I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars... well, a few small annoyances stop me, and I'll list them below.

-The most minor complaint is that none of the dials click in to mute. There are dedicated mute buttons, but a click in dial would have been nicer for me personally, but this isn't a big deal at all

-This thing will likely be a fingerprint monster, so be ready to clean it

-This device is supported on Mac and Windows, however, the Mac integration is not quite where you want it to be. While you can still do some mixing, it is not as robust as it is in windows. I bought this mixer so that I could easily swap between my work macbook, and my personal pc, and for the most part it works, but I do wish there were more routing options available. The website for the product mentions a special driver update for Mac in April, so hopefully that will alleviate some of the issues I have using this on a Mac. I also know that Mac OS isn't the best when it comes to controlling audio (seriously, Apple? STILL no native routing table), so I'm hopeful that the April update alleviates things.

-You can adjust the RGB of the 4 main dials, but not of the mute buttons (those are always white). This likely won't change as I'm assuming white LEDs were used instead of RGB LEDs for the mute buttons. Not a huge deal either, but I will say that even to address the RGB of the dials, you just get a straight line that you put a marker on to pick your color. A place to enter a hexcode would be appreciated.

-The Mic dial....I'm not really sure what this does. You can set it to either control the volume of yourself (monitoring your own voice), or you can switch it to control the volume of....something else? I don't actually understand what this controls. I assumed at first it was the sensitivity/ volume of the mic, separate from the gain control (similar to how the goxlr works), but adjusting this doesn't seem to actually do anything. The output of your mic to the stream is controlled separately, so I really don't know what this is meant to do. It would be great if this could be mapped to controlling mic volume, or better yet, setting this to the gain level. Maybe I'm missing something here, and it controls some EQ setting or something, but even going through the user manual, I cannot figure this out

-As I mentioned, there is a way to change EQ settings on the device itself, but for me, I set my EQ once, and never touch it again. I wish you could use this to switch profiles i.e. having one profile that I use if working in adobe premiere, and so I want the volume dials to correspond to different applications/ software, and then another profile that I use if I am streaming games. You can set up profiles in the software already, so a way to be able to switch to these on the device itself would be great, since you can do basically everything else already without having to open up the software.

Those are the cons I have, and as I said, they are mostly minor, and likely will not, and honestly, should not dissuade you from buying this. In my journey to upgrade from the goxlr mini I was originally looking to upgrade either to the full-size goxlr, the rodecaster pro II, and the recently released Yamaha ZG-01. I didn't like the giant pads on the goxlr and the lack of customization you could do with them, the emphasis on voice changing which I do not use, the price seemed a bit high for what you were getting, and the company hasn't seen many updates since most of the team left to work on BEACN. The Rodecaster pro II is probably the best XLR interface/ mixer money can buy right now for streaming, and honestly would be perfect for all of my specific needs, but it is quite large, very expensive, and does more than I would likely ever need, so I couldn't justify it right now. I was very close to buying the Yamaha ZG-01, but days before I bought it, I came across this device, and it offered a bit more than what the Yamaha did for my use-case.

The Roland Bridge Cast seems to be fairly new, and has not received a lot of coverage as of yet (I can't find any reviews for it). It definitely meets it's purpose, and more, and I'm super glad I made this purchase. I really hope it gains more traction/ followers/ coverage as it's a fantastic device, and seems to only be beaten by the rodecaster pro II when it comes to functionality. A device which costs over 2x as much. I look forward to future updates, and hope to revisit this review soon to bump it up to 5 stars, but even as it stands, it's a great product, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, and easy way to mix, and route all of their audio, or looking to upgrade from a goxlr.

5.0 out of 5 stars PERFECT Addition to my Streaming Arsenal

My first introduction to the Roland Bridge Cast was at TwitchCon 2023 in Las Vegas. Once I saw what it could do, I knew I needed to have one.

This has paired wonderfully with my AT2020 XLR microphone (however, you can specify whether you need it to crank out power or not for your mic). The ease of setup with the app on my desktop PC was so seamless. Once you've downloaded the app, there are just a few steps to get your PC on track with the various options that the Bridge Cast offers. I am able to set up my PC sounds, my game (which is a PS5), my chat (Discord) and my microphone.

Being able to adjust these sounds on the fly is really helpful. Taking it a step further, you can also have two different setup - you can have your own personal sound in your headphones, or you can hear what your audience hears. This can be very helpful if you'd like to have music going for chat, but maybe you only want to hear your game in your headphones. This feature can really come in handy.

There's also a lot of additional features to the Bridge Cast. For your microphone, there is a complete section on the app for fine tuning your sound, from noise suppression to gate, etc. Then there is the FUN stuff - microphone effects! There are five presets you can create to give your voice varied PITCH and FORMANT. The sky is really the limit. :D

If you are a streamer that plays varied games and want to adjust the EQ for each one, there are also five presets that you can adjust for your games to perfect the sound that you want! (The pre-made presets are all FPS, but you can adjust and rename to your heart's desire!) There is also a line out for external speakers and aux if you want a line in from your phone!

Once you've gotten everything set up (I know it seems like a lot, but it's WORTH IT), the system really just waits for you to create whatever cleverness you can come up with... and DELIVERS IT. If you're an aesthetics person, the Bridge Cast knobs for each sound component (there are four knobs) can each be changed to a different RGB of your choice! You can also order custom faceplates to match!

Finally, there are even more options (which I haven't had a chance to test because it requires a subscription) like more pre-built mic effects, and a library full of background music in varied styles/moods for you to play (and they're royalty free)! I'm more than pleased with my Roland BridgeCast and I hope this review helped you!

5.0 out of 5 stars Roland's entry into the streamer space is incredible

There's almost too much to talk about in this review and this will be from a Windows perspective.

The Bridge Cast acts as an external ASIO multi input & output audio processor... and you don't have to keep an app running in the background on Windows to control your audio. There are two apps to configure the Bridge Cast; one for sample rate, bit depth, and buffer size; and another for configuring audio streams, setting up effects if desired, and assigning what the level knobs and buttons do.

The key feature with the Bridge Cast is its separate audio inputs and outputs all show up as separate audio devices in Windows' sound manager. You get three mics/inputs (Mic, Stream, and ______) and five outputs (System, Game, Music, Chat, Aux, ______). This is like what VoiceMeeter does, but instead of requiring Windows to simulate a mixing board, the Bridge Cast is doing so as a physical external device so there's little processing done by Windows itself.

So, when setting up the Bridge Cast, all you need to do is launch your individual programs & games then go into your Windows Sound Settings and set those apps and Windows' default to the Bridge Cast outputs you desire. After that, launch the Bridge Cast app to configure which knobs are assigned to what outputs and which outputs are collected into your personal audio mix and the stream mix (the stream mix is a digital output that can be used by any program you're using to record, just like a mic). Oh, and each of these inputs and outputs can be independently EQ'd and the physical mic input has some DSP options. If you only want game audio going to the recording, set the game to use the Bridge Cast's Game output and set all Bridge Cast outputs to 0% stream except the Game one which you'd set to 100% personal and stream mixes. Additionally, you can modify levels on the physical device by using the Stream Mix / Personal Mix button. Just press the button so it's illuminated and you're adjusting levels for the stream output, press again for your personal mix output. This whole system lets you isolate just what you want for your stream vs what you hear even letting you listen to different music than your audience... and it does so without having to run an app in the system tray. Super powerful.

On top of all that, the Bridge Cast also has its own 3.5mm jacks for headphones and line out. So if you want to send your personal mix to an external amp & speaker setup, you can do that. Just mirror the line out jack with the phones one in the Bridge Cast app.

The ADC/DAC chip Roland uses appears to be proprietary, but I can confirm it supports up to 24bit/96kHz sampling for all inputs and outputs simultaneously. So you're not sacrificing anything in terms of hifi audio.

    Very happy with this purchase.

First, I've used the Wave XLR as my main mixer as the software is AMAZING, the use of VST was a godsend. THOUGH from what I noticed and researched, my computer was getting a little sluggish despite having a pretty good system, but on top of streaming it was struggling to keep up as it's known to use computer power instead of through the system itself due to the amount of VSTs I use. So, I found this an alternative, the software could use some more refinement, and the controls are pretty easy to use and get around. Would highly recommend waiting for a sale or buying it secondhand.

I am extremely pleased with this device. It does everything I was looking for and then some in a reasonably compact and easy to use form factor. My primary requirements were the ability to terminate my FDUCE XLR microphone, drive and adjust volume levels independently for both a set of DT 990 Pro headphones and Edifier bookshelf speakers, and provide different channels that could be controlled independently for both regular PC/Game sound as well as chat volume. This little device does all of that beautifully and so much more. I am tempted to buy another to have as a spare as I love the control this gives me and if I decide to start doing more streaming it has some additonal capabilities that will be nice for that as well. 10/10 Would buy again.
