    This is (in my opinion) Paul Verhoeven's masterpiece. Incredible set design, special effects, and make-up (shout-out Stan Winston, the special effects master). Great characters that are acted well. Peter Weller, who spends most of the movie as just a set of lips with the rest of him covered, still gives a great physical performance and makes you feel for Murphy. Excellent themes about 'rediscovering your humanity' and 'the dangers of technology'. Clarence Boddicker is one of the best 'pure evil' villains of cinema history, a cruel slime-ball you just love to hate. Also, the musical score is underrated. Overall, huge recommend! I'd definitely buy that for a dollar!

    4) (hidden) Any attempt to watch this movie on any other edition than the 2007 blu ray disk will result in shutdown and an immediate discharge of baby food through the anal cavity.

    The stark comparison on youtube of both blu-ray releases (4k remastered vs original blu-ray release) says it all. Compared side by side it's evident that the picture from the newer release is washed out with enough contrast to blind you and cause lasting retinal damage. Some people have exclaimed they prefer this updated edition but if you really take a closer look, background details in some scenes are completely missing because of this augmentation and tinkering. If you can find the 2007 edition get that one.

    Classic film....Paul verhovens critique / social satire on corporate corruption and greed is as relevant today as it was upon release.

    Just pre ordered this on Steelbook, partly due to a sickness that I have for collecting Steelbooks but mostly because this is one of the greatest films ever made.

    A lot of stuck up film snobs might sneer at that last comment as they will try to lump Robocop in with all the other over the top action films of the 80's, but I am here to tell them that if they feel like that they are missing the point of the film.

    Yes this film has a lot of action, very violent action at that, but it is as much a comment on the degradation of society as it is for cinematic spectacle. The visuals in this film are stunning and save for a bit of dodgy blue screen every now and again the special effects still stand up today. And yes, I said blue screen. That is what us old timers used before green screen.

    The satirical nature of this film is ever present, from the aforementioned violence to the news reports and the apocalyptic family board game. This film takes swipes at modern society from all angles and over 25 years later those themes are still relevant.

    I would recommend this film to anyone really as there are so many different ways to approach it that I feel most people could take something from it. I first saw this film when I was ten years old and can remember seeing it for the first time, but still now with every watch it remains fresh. If you haven't seen it before, see it. If you have seen it before, just watch it again as you know you are going to love it.
